Well, having never had it before and being diagnosed over the phone (our doctor isn’t seeing anyone face to face) I’m assuming she is correct. Either way, the pain when passing urine is absolutely horrendous - I’ve never known stinging like it. And the whole area is burning and feels raw. It’s hurting just to sit down. Doctor has given me Canesten cream but is there anything else I am do/take to ease the pain? Sorry for delicate nature of question x

Oh really?? Why has she prescribed it then!?
no idea, you need antibiotics for cystitis (which is a bacterial infection) where as canesten is for fungal infections
Canesten do a cystitis treatment. Called Oasis.
I had it when I was pregnant and it's agony. You need prescription medicine, nothing else does it. People I know who've had it all agree on that.
No idea Smow. I had cystitis last year and drank loads of water which cleared it up.

Did the doctor diagnose it as Cystitis?
Smow....take it from a cystitis expert! Canesten is useless. When it's as bad as you say you need antibiotics now.
Like others, I can't see how an anti-fungal ointment is meant to help with a condition which is usually bacterial in origin!

If this is what you've been prescribed then give it a try but as said above you may well need Anti Bs.

If you can get to Boots they sell a Cystitis testing kit. If it is confirmed the pharmacist there will advise you.
Canestan cream will be soothing to that area.

Drink plenty of water.
Take Ibuprofen 400mgms with food 3 times a day.
If it hasn't improved by Friday, then give the GP a ring.
Our friend was prescribed antibiotics for her stubborn Cystitis. It is now receding, somewhat like your cowardly so called doctor.
