Has anyone here got any positive experiences? Please don't tell me of God awful experiences of people who have died etc as I don't need to hear that at the moment. Have you had melanomas removed, been OK etc

I have one on my hand, i have an appointment with a dermatologist in July.
Friend of mine is very fair skinned and has had a few removed very successfully. Well done for getting yours checked and attended to promptly.
You seem to be very specific about what kind of answers you want. I am afraid to post in case my answer does not meet the criteria. So I shall not tell you of my experience (ps I did not die)
My neice had a 'blemish' removed earlier this year. Had it removed, it came back as grade one melanoma but Dr said they had taken it all. However, he did say for peace of mind neice could have more skin taken from around the site, which she did. That came back as clear. Now healed quite nicely though there will be a scar. Dr told her she should have no further problems though to keep an eye on other moles.
My daughter had a mole removed some years ago, dr wasnt worried about it but it was on her waist and kept getting caught. Came back clear, so not all moles are malignant. No problems since though she is keeping an eye on other sites.
I hope all goes well 237, not all experiences are bad. Try not to worry too much.
I have lots of skin lesions (moles) which the docs say are benign and cannot be removed under the NHS as treatment would be purely cosmetic.
I have also had several BCCs (basal cell carcinomas) removed which are considered to be non-malignant but will spread locally if untreated.
I had Mohs surgery on my ear which resulted in a large portion of my ear being removed. A surgeon attempted a reconstruction but made such a hash of it that I ended up having the ear removed & replaced by a prosthesis. I should have gone private (£10k).
Had a 'malignant melanoma' removed plus skin graft several years ago. Attended many checkups and a lymph node biopsy. Passed all and the hospital told me not too come back! I'm still alive and well (much to the OH's disgust!) and no intention of dying any time soon!

Well, that was taken off in 20 mins. Just hope the whole of the damn thing is gone.
I hope so too, 237. Not long had the result of my second suspicious thing's biopsy. Luckily it was benign.
Reading the experiences of others here and folk I know I'm sure you'll be fine and that it's well and truly gone....x
my OH had one removed about 30 years ago. Regular checkups since (and occasionally they remove further moles without starting investigations), but all has been well.

Finally got an answer out of the NHS today (after chivvying them a bit) It was a moderately dysplastic mole. I knew it was but it ticked all the boxes (the ABCDE scale) for melanoma so hugely relieved. Thanks again for the answers.
I am glad that you have your diagnosis. Even though we, rationally, know that things will be okay it really is nice when a doctor agrees with us.

Are you still working?
