Hi,

I have been meaning to say for ages. Absolutely no disrespect to you, but you mention taking Ibuprofen a great deal in your answers. It's a very good drug for all sorts of aches and pains, available over the counter and I would certainly take it. However, I can't take it because I'm on blood thinners and my husband cannot because of heart issues as it's an Anti-inflammatory drug.

We have quite a few friends in our age group in this situation because of various health issues who have also
Been told to avoid Ibuprofen.

I'm just wondering whether you should issue a warning that Ibuprofen cant be taken by some people and actually for them Paracetamol would be the answer. A lot of folk on here rely on you rather than consult a GP or pharmacist.

Just a thought. There are a lot of oldies on this site!!

John, Sharon? Hmmm....bit of a Freudian slip there I think...come on...fess up! Need a bit of gossip these dark days.... ;-)

Hello Sqad. Thanks for replying. One thing doctors are very, very cautious about is that people on blood thinners don't take ibuprofen. My own trusted doctor told me never even to take a single dose.

And yes medicine is all about the individual, which is why on line advice isn't good if the adviser doesn't know your history.

How very dare you gossip on my very serious thread Gness ;0))))!!

Instant suspension!!!!
""And yes medicine is all about the individual, which is why on line advice isn't good if the adviser doesn't know your history."

Then don't ask for advice.

And Sqad, I am one of those awful patients who questions doctors. I always want to know all the venue and wherefores. Been like that since schooldays when I questioned teachers!!
I would have agreed with you @ 19.11 once, Pat. However, a problem I had some years ago, was dealt with very badly by consultants in Peterborough and Kettering hospitals.
Where did I get the diagnosis and best advice? From Sqad. Still, after all these years, I'm problem free.. :-).
Gness, my bloody keyboard!!
I like gossip, Pat....and with our restrictions in Ireland gossip's getting hard to come by. :-(
Okay...I believe you, Sharon.... ;-)

/Then don't ask for advice/

I would also offer some medical history when asking advice.
Question Author
I was very confused about who John was, Sharon!!
Question Author
I like gossip too Gness ;0)
I am not John!!! I have no inclinations to dress up in men's clothes.
Don't you wear jeans/trousers then Sharon?
For Sqad:

From NHS Scotland: "Anti inflammatory medicines should only be considered for use 48 hours after an injury has occurred. If they're used before this time, they may affect the healing process in some conditions".

In far more detail, citing peer-reviewed studies:

//Looks down at legs, clad in trackies//
Well, these are lady pants!!!
Thank you Buenchico, I have never opened a link in Body and Soul and don't intend to start now.

I think that I will give The Nursing Times a miss and I stand by my posts.
There you go! "lady pants". Is John making Sharon pant?
Gness, calm down dear!! There is no John. I am a Johanna!!!!
Question Author
Thank you Chris for the links. Very informative. Especially as I have a generic soft tissue condition.
