48 Answers
I know!!
But had to finish work early today.
(Previously never even taken all holiday entitelement, let alone sick days)
Heart pounding, dizziness, fatigue and breathing problems.
Managed to get an app with a nurse at GPs in the afternoon.
Blood pressure still high after 6 months on blood pressure meds,
and pulse higher than usual
Got home and had a telephone call from nurse, Doctor wants to see me in morning.
BUT..
I'm still bleeding like a pig from my behind,
(Despite having the all clear from a sigmoidoscapy)
Having to use the lav several times a day and constant stomach upsets etc.
Cant see a connection myself between arris problems and not been able to do my job because im constantly on the verge of passing out (presumeby due to blood pressure)
But interested to hear differntly.
(Have felt significanty worse since been prescribed Ramapril. Was initially prescribed Amlodopine which according to the nurse today should not have been a first choice.
Was on fit or a week and I was sick as a dog. )

Naomi,
The nurse I saw today wants to increase the dosage, hence the GP appointment I think.
Why would I want to increase the dosage of something that is making me ill??
Just dont get it???
Felt fine before diagnosis.
Agree to take meds after diagnosis.
Feel worse...
Increase dosage?

My advice, which is the same my GP gave me, is to purchase one of these and take your own BP readings, twice a day. Note them in a diary and at the end of 7 days you can calculate the average BP reading. I have been doing this for years now, nailit. My GP relies upon my submitting the details to him especially through lockdowns. It helps him to review my list of medication by telephone consultation!
I know the initial cost may be difficult but this model may be available elsewhere at a lower price or you could take advantage of paying by installments.

Don't come back to me and ask why you should have to cover this expense. It is merely my advice which you can take or leave, as you please. I would just add that high BP is a silent killer.
Hope things improve for you.

Nailit....fro what I remember of your posts over the years....a decade perhaps, your mental state has always been of concern.......hardly well controlled.
As for your BP, if my memory serves me, this has been a recent concern.....less than a year. Apologies if I am incorrect.
Your GP who will have your notes will assess the situation and problably send you for more tests....ECG, blood tests etc.

Other medications are available to control high BP, ask your GP.

Have been asked to keep a BP check twice a day for the next 5 days and then to make a GP appointment with a view to upping meds.

Told the nurse today that I was started on Amlodopine and she was shocked. Stated that no one with high blood pressure should be started on Amlodopine.??
Ive had no follow up (BP test or bloods done) since starting on ramapril
Just given pills and left to get on with it.
(until today)
Thanks.
