I Have Been Suffering With Extreme Tiredness
81 Answers
For some time now. I have had an all clear for recent illnesses. I had a ct scan, bloods taken, and biopsies taken but everything is normal. I have no energy. I've mentioned it to the doctor but there doesn't appear to be anything wrong wirh me. I'm baffled, is it worth going private ?

Choux, I don't know why you think sqad is very knowledgeabl e. How can he possibly advise Tamaris to go see a psychiatrist without knowing anything about her?

Tamaris, you have my sympathy.
As a fellow sufferer of extreme tiredness, I totally understand.
I can't get through the day without going back to bed for a couple of hours during the day.
At the moment I'm having my thyroid checked, I have a blood due this coming Friday.
You ask 'Is it worth going private' My answer would be yes if you can afford it.
I know of several people who have found out things by going private that wasn't picked up on the NHS and I for one am considering it. Good luck.

Yes go private. To make a good diagnosis a decent doctor will listen to the patients every word and go from there. I have discovered my words and suggestions were not heeded by a horde of arrogant so called consultants. Now my worst fears have returned to haunt me two years later. I told them then that my symptoms were the same as when I first was found to have colon cancer. God rot them. I pleaded for a colonoscopy then and finally ,this week, I am sure I was correct as a colonoscopy shows.
With the lousy spring weather that we've been having up until very recently, and given that all the tests you've had have come back clear, my mind turns to Seasonal Affective Disorder as a possible cause of your problem. It's definitely been leaving many people feeling extremely tired over the past few months:

[NB: I've posted that link as a response to Andrés' post. I'm NOT suggesting that's what Tamaris has].

I don't really like replying to medical questions on here as am not qualified to do so but just to say my mother used to complain of extreme tiredness and eventually it was discovered she had thyroid trouble .. GP said it is difficult to detect ... three other things which she found were that she put on weight without eating more than usual, she felt the cold and her hair seemed to be getting thinner.
Good Wishes.
