I had an operation for Endometriosis just over a year ago. After the op I was told to take the pill continuously for 3 months and then have the usual 7 day break which I have been doing. The consultant said I may experience spotting which I may have done a on a couple of occasions but nothing major. But this last week it has almost been like i have been on a proper period bleeding quite a lot and experiencing bad stomach cramps. I am in the middle of my second pack of pills so don't understand why this is happening. Could it be an infection of some sort?

Hi Linzi84. I have Endometriosis but can thankfully keep the pain away by being on the pill. When I initially went to a gynea because of the severa period pains she gave me the advice to take the pill continously for 3 months and then cont as normal and come back and see her. She said by not having any periods I wouldn't be aggravating the endometrium and the cyst which I also have might go away. as far as I know with Endometriosis it can come and go and just because you've had an op for it, it doesn't mean it can't come back. I don't know why you've got heavy bleeding and cramps midway through the packet but I hope you'll go to your gp asap. I hope for your sake that it hasn't come back. I doubt very much it's an infection but it's definitely your body telling you something.

Good luck
