stress makes me sleep - but only during the day at night i'm a bag of nervous energy - very annoying. Depression also can make you sleepy and lethargic... some good energy boosting things i have found work include - avoiding processed food (especially refined sugar) and sticking to more natural whole foods (meat potatoes, vegetables e.g. things that don't come in a packet), making sure i get enough fresh air (half an hour walk every day), cutting out tea and coffee as the caffine just tires you out in the long run and really wears your internal organs out if you keep using it for years on end, and watch the alcohol intake....

good luck

i think this is common to most, i certainly get it, the less i do the tierder i feel. i think it's something to do with the body functions becoming lazy with no activity. so go for walks or take up a club that will keep you buisy and active, do something you enjoy so you wont feel so stressed.

I feel exactly the same, only I can't sleep either which is compounding the problem. But I am constantly tired regardless of how much sleep I get. It's very draining. Undercovers is right on all counts. I think maybe I need to do some more exercise. I also tend to be less tired when i'm doing something I can get my teeth into.

How about doing some decorating whilst you're not working, or doing some voluntary work so you have to get up and out the house.

This does seem to be a common problem and I do think that regular exercise seems to be one of the keys. Just recently whenever I've been either reading a book or watching TV, I've taken to getting up and doing some floor exercises, or moving/stretching exercises every time I finish a chapter or whenever the commercial breaks come on. This helps to make me feel more alert and less sleepy. Physical activity helps to relax the muscles which over a period of time, tense up, especially when we are stressed.

Could be depression/SAD - lots of good advice above - perhaps a trip to the doctor too.

For feeling sleeping all the time my advice would be sunshine (if you can find any) and exercise - swimming usually make me feel more awake (but swimming about 30 lengths, not just going to the pool and paddling around for a bit!) It's funny as you'd think doing exercise would make you even more sleepy but it usually has the opposite effect on me.

You are out of the habit of working and as such got into a routine where you dont have to get up at a regular time in order to carry out a structured day. When this happens you get into a different habit which can be difficult to break, such as sleeping at irregular hours. You then develop low esteem and confidence goes. Try to break your current routine, go for a walk early on, go swimming, how about doing some voluntary work? All this is low stress activity but will help you develop confidence, get motivated and lift your mood in general. If you are not working, why not? Change your career, look for something you can do that is less stressful.
boredom

that makes me tired at work, so if youre not workin then cud be a factor

You should get active FIRST thing in the day.. since your not working try getting up and going for a walk for about 30-40 mins.. or even a walk/ run.. then get home and shower.. then be ready for your day!!! You will notice you will have more motivation through out your day.. if things do not change try speaking to a Dr.

Good Luck!!!!

When I was on the dole 10/11 years ago I used to get up at midday at the earliest, yet was still tired all day. Someone told me it was because I got up late and that if I got up at say 9 and was more active it wud make me feel less tired.

i cant remember the reasoning for this but other people have said the same thing. Something to do with bodyclock or something maybe.
