It's well known that socialism seems very attractive to the young until they start having to make their way in the real world. They soon realise it cannot possibly work. and start to get real with their own lives. Occassionally the lesser spotted socialist can make it to old age but usually that needs an infusion of old money /peerage/job for life that can delay the realisation. Ultimately socialism requires that human nature is negated and is therefore impossible.
