Unusual engagement rings

Just out of interest, what kinds of things have couples used as a 'replacement' engagement ring? e.g a man on Trisha once used sweet wrappers as a ring because he left the real one in another jacket!!

i remember one of my aunties used an old brass curtain ring, or so legend goes, it may have been a joke

dot, My father gave my mother a brass curtain ring on their wedding, it was during the war, and he didn't have much money, he replaced it later, but she kept it for sentimental reason, my sister has it now, so your ancidote could well be true.
