If you go to the Doctor and he tells you you are pregnant can he ever be wrong? I just wandered. I have not been told I am pregnant by a Doctor by the way.I don't care how many answers I get to this question as long as I get one good one because I need to know. Thanks in advance.

I don't know if the Doctor can be wrong about you being pregnant but my Mother was told that she was not pregnant by her Doctor when she was pregnant with me therefore it probobly works both ways.

I doubt your Doctor would tell you that you are pregnant unless their test proves this. They aren't going to tell you your pregnant just by you describing your complaints.

So I guess to your answer, no your Doctor can't be wrong when telling you your pregnant as one of their pregnancy tests will tell them this.

Just out of concern Russian, as I think you should find out one way or the other as soon as possible whether you are or not, have you had a test? Please consider taking one, because if you are then you need to be taking folic acid tablets asap and be under your midwife to keep a check on you.

.I have taken a test but am not convinced it is correct.I don't know if you know the circumstances so to cut a long story short.I am a lesbian and de,cided I wanted a big fat cuddly, baby so had a go at artifical insemination.I realised after just one go that I was being immature and didn't want a baby just yet.But this is my second period I have missed now so I took a test this morning.I know they are not always correct so was wandering if the Doctor would be 100% correct.

Without a Pregnancy Test, either bought by yourself from a Shop or done at a Surgery/Clinic by a Doctor or Healthcare Professional, no-one can say for sure whether you are Pregnant. The Symptoms for Pregnancy are similar to a lot of other Ailments, so a Test needs to be done, whether your Doctor does it or not is up to you.

No Doctor should assume you are Pregnant without doing a Test. If they do then get a 2nd Opinion!!

surely if there was the slightest chance u could b pregnant u would find out so u could give the baby (if u r) the best start in life by taking folic acid, eating correctly etc. all this from a trainee doctor!! also if u r training to b a doctor would u not know the answer to ur question?

I think you should perhaps go to a Family Planning Clinic as the Healthcare Professionals there are better Trained to know and they will do a Test for you!!

I think I'm right in saying that a home kit can give a false negative but never a false positive, so if the test says your pregnant then you are. Which the Doctor will confirm with their own if your still not convinced. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
By God I hope the test isn't what I am thinking it is!

If youve done the test to the instructions provided, it should be pretty conclusive with the result.They got both my pregnancies correct.

Yes I know that.I have done a home test but think it is wrong I want the Doctor to tell me.I doubt if I am pregnant.I hope I am not.If I am then my parents are having it.I don't want it.I have a degree to do. By the way I am only in my first year of my Medical degree.I can tell you everything about skin conditions but we don't study reproduction for another 2 years. I won't be a Doctor for another 7 years.

Ye gods woman! You should be in a psychiatric ward, not doing a medical degree. If you're so immature that you don't know whether you want a child or not and now you've got yourself pregnant, you're not fit to be let loose on the public in the NHS. What annoys me about people like you is that probably some really deserving student who genuinely wanted to study medicine was robbed of a place at medical school by somebody like you. And you think you're going to lumber your parents with a child you don't want? Grow up you silly little girl.
