I thought you'd like this one Wardy! However, ... 'our classless system' ?- Sounds a bit rich coming from you! So if we have a classless society, so only one class of people, does that mean you are actually the same class as the people you call council house scum then? You do make me laugh! :o) Well, sometimes!

I agree with most of the things you said, excluding the thrashing the Germans twice ... although I am glad the 2nd world war ended the way it did, there is no merit in taking pleasure out of the killing of millions of people.

the Queen ... slight German connection there ... LOL :o)

Boo, agree with everything you said, except the NHS, which is now one of the worst health systems in Europe according the the WHO. Like the UK, France also has a National Health system and is considered by the WHO to be the best in the world ... no waiting lists, lowest rate of infection etc etc. and guess where many of our patients are now going ... ?

I am glad this question has raised so many wonderful things about this country as it really is important that we are all reminded of them every once and again. Thanks to you all for this.
quite RATTER as we already reading postings from an equally boring old f@rt.
He might put me on later.

Am I allowed to answer as a "foreigner"?
Well, things I love about the UK, in no particular order:
the sense of humour, the friendliness and tolerance of the people, the pubs, the NHS, the "meritocratic" culture (ie: you can achieve anything if you work hard enough), the English language....I'm not sure where to stop! Really, there is nowhere else quite like it. It's a wonderful country, in every sense.
