I cannot believe that was your response to my post ...be very embarrassed... he he...
The central theme of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is Jesus Christ. His standard is what we must measure against, personal morality, wars, politics. People dying in the Bible? Wow! Oh of course, God demonstrates His judgement, a taste of what awaits us if we refuse His mercy.
And what a lot of mercy he gave those people who happened to be living in the promised land before the Israelites turned up!

I suppose they should have read their bibles better eh?
Joshua bothers me too. But not half as much as the Gospels, which are seriously bothering !
Joko, Christianity is not an intellectual belief, but it is intellectually defensible. Your mockery is indeed humourous, but blasphemous. God is not mocked - ever, to continue in this vein is like pressing a button. Your description of the fictitious book, designed to be funny, makes no serious indent in the claims of Christianity.
Christianity is not an intellectual belief - True!

ditto jake-the-peg!!!

theman - you have serious mania - your over zealous fanatical ranting and incoherent rambling is starting to sound like you are either drunk, on drugs or insane

you need to calm down and stop this preaching - this is answerbank - not preachbank

get a grip
Who lived in the promised land originally? Canaanites, who aroused Gods wrath with their pagan practices, such as child scrifices and idolatory. God won't stand for it.
Ah ha, joko is getting cross !

Now joko, time for you to get a grip too. You have all the anger of the modern age which not only rejects religious belief, but would probably exterminate it if it could.

Your comments to Theland were very nasty and un-called for.

I hope you will apologise :)
Do we have a soul? If so where is it kept? That's the original question. The Bible answers it. How can I have my own opinion, based on what? Experience? Google? People who knock the Bible usually have never studied it.
By the way, I'm quite calm.
oh whiffy i am not cross - more bemused and amused ... this person is coming across as slighty crazy.

they don't listen to any of the other comments, just add yet another post with a load of self righteous waffle.

my comments are not made as an attack - but as my genuine opinion

i have no problem with people using religion as a crutch and believing in whatever they want to believe, but when it starts to get to this sort of obsessive preaching i think it becomes sad and a problem

i am seeing theman as a sort of max cady from cape fear - in that scene at the end when he is going down with the boat....

(not saying he's a murderer of course)

joko, I don't think Theland comes across as crazy, any more than you do. You think he's crazy and are annoyed (or similar) that such people exist. Yes, it's very Scofield, and I had loads of exposure in my childhood, but I also have loads of affection and respect. I would rather meet an evangelist or a JW or a Mormon in a dark alleyway than many other of my fellow men.

My own dilemma is that while I have serious problems with Joshua, I have even more serious problems with the magnetism of the Gospels. This thread deserves to be moved to the Religion section.

Get me going on the resurrection........ There is formidable evidence for it, and for me it is a fact. Coping with the ramifications is another matter and I could bore you all night.
And the 6 day war post, you have not answered?
perhaps report it to get it moved.

i suspect theland would be a lot happier in that topic too.

as i said, i have no problem with people believing things that i think are ridiculous - each to their own - and if they can come up with a coherrent and rational and eloquent discussion i will enter into it with with the same approach, but the fanatical preaching and insistant repetitive quoting just gets peoples backs up and means people instantly switch off.
The history book tell us, (not me telling you), that the six day war was an attack by muslim nations on Israel. Islam is based on the claimed experiences and writings of one man, Mohammed. (The Bible has 40 authors). Israels official religion is Rabbinnic Judaism, which has nothing to do with the temple worship of the Old Testament. So, two man made religions. This is the history book talking remember.

O.K. Let's say I'm wrong. I want to believe in something backed up by evidence. Not what somebody FEELS is right because it's desirable.

Now, is that a rant and a rave?
pie+mash - re the 6-day war, would it make you happy to see Israel wiped out ?
joko, it gets YOUR back up and makes YOU switch off, but I still don't think you can speak for all of us.

Incidentally, inconsequentially (sadly), it is attitudes like yours that are facilitating the inexorable movement of Britain towards Islam.
If you were to die right now, would you KNOW where you were headed? Are you absolutely confident that you will be O.K.? You've GOT to get this answer right, imagine an eternity of suffering knowing that you got it wrong.
Feeling uncomfortable?
So do we have a soul, and where is it kept?
