lol!!
It's far LESS grim 'up north' than it is 'down south'. The house prices and cost of living are lower, the facilities are better (more to do, more places within easy reach of each other, more sporting and concert venues, bigger bands touring, better football clubs,) and the people are far more friendly. I've lived in Warrington, Durham, Ipswich and am now in Kent. I like it here because my gf is from around here, but this is the ar*e end of nowhere and it's boring. The nearest 'big' place for proper culture and entertainment is London and that's more than an hour away, whichever way you travel.
The great North and South divide subject is better than arguments about politics, sex or religion. I'm sarf the rivva and have not been up norf but I'm sure its a nice place to visit. Furthest north I have ever been was on the North circular.
I went to Bolton once....but besides that the furthest north I've been is Derby!
I must say that I went to visit my brother in Bolton recently and I didn't understand the checkout lady in Adsa and I looked like a real posh a*se.
