Is it really 'grim up North'?...

Just wondered... as the furthest North I've ever ventured is Hepden Bridge (ex gf was from there)... that was pretty grim... ;o)

I've lived all over Britain and I like "up north", anywhere north of Brum is fine ( with the exception of wolverhampton) Lol.
Its great up north snagged you really want to get out more.
I live in Stockton on Tees 2 miles North of Middlesbrough fantastic place
Im from yorkshire and I dont find it grim
Does Edinburgh count as "up North"? If so, its lovely!! not grim at all!! xx

Strange thing is i've been all over the bloody world... but never 'up North' in this country...

I'm gonna get slated... but... it doesn't particularly appeal to me for some reason... I only went as far as Hepton Bridge as my ex was from there...


even she went back 'grudgingly' (xmas, deaths, births etc!)...
snagged, be careful....they'll have you down the mines if you stay up there too long!

Stay for more than a week snagged and you'll begin to grow a flat cap and sprout a whippet from the side of your right knee and say "Eh up!" a lot.

No I'm not! I'm from Belfast. I've lived in London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, York for a while all over the place and up north is great.

The furthest North I've ever been was Whitby on a camping trip. I remember that being quite jolly despite having just read Dracula and being scared to death in my tent of a night.

I live in Brixton so you can imagine most places North or South are less grim that there.

oh I don't know... I quite like the 'thrill' of trying to get to Brixton Academy... in one piece lol!
Best breakfasts in the world come from up north, best fish and chips, good scenery, fun loving hard partying people, sensible down to earthness about em. What's not to like?
My survival instincts tell me that I should not contribute to this thread, even when I have stopped laughing :)
