I am a PA to the Director of the company I work for.
I only started in March so I havent been here long.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I was just covering the receptionists lunch break and a girl came out of the interview and we got chatting and then she told me she had just been interviewed for the PA's job.......

Sh1t!!!!

What should I do? Should I approach my boss or not?

She said the product manager administrator - thats me! There is only one Director in that field - granted there are other Directors but not by that title.
The only happy I thought is that someone else interviewed her not my boss and he likes to interview people himself.
well maybe you just spend too much time on here and they are letting you go

Probably - do you work 4get?
go and ask him then
Id ask him indirectly. Say the girl had been chatting about her interview and that she mentioned it was a PA in your department. Why not then jokingly ask if youre being promoted

Thats a brilliant idea red - thanks!
me? Nah :-)
Im full of them, brilliant ideas that is :)

4get get back to work or Im phoning the boss :)
full of something :-)
Follow Red's advice.

How big is your company anyway? I think you'll find that it's illegal for them to recruit a replacement for your role before addressing the issue with you. They can't sack you unless you have received 2 verbal and a written warning (most probably in your contract, and if you have no written contract then the law will be on your side on this), or unless they can prove gross misconduct on your part. You're obviously still employed, so I think you'll find that the job interview wasn't for your job. Otherwise you'd be in a prime position to sue the pants off them! Your boss would have to be very stupid to do something like that.
Well hello 4getmenot....
hey how you doing you crafty butcher :-)
Champagne, I think that within the first year of employment the written and verbal warnings dont come into it.

Give my suggestion a go, hope it works out ok
Very well thanks hows your clowns pocket?
You're wrong Red. This will be dependant on the contract, but the statutory minimum amount of notice you must give is one week when you've worked for your employer for one month or more. Dismissal without notice is only allowed for gross misconduct, which means a situation serious enough to dismiss you without first giving a warning (such as theft, fraud or violence). Girly hasn't been dismissed so the situation has probably been misinterpreted.

I'm sure your job is fine, Girly. But do speak to your boss if you're concerned.
Oh, excluding any probationary periods of course! :o)
full of suprises rev :-)
I love the way u pull a rabbit out of it lol
