What are you going to do that's environmentally friendly?
In order to save a little bit of energy, I'm going to stop washing my clothes.
Seriously though, I am recycling all my paper at work and I'm growing my own chillis, and as of Monday this week I am now buying all my organice fruit/veg from Abel & Cole (http://www.abel-cole.co.uk/).

Our planet is 3.8 billion years old. Its history relatively unknown, the future uncertain.

Recent research which I happen to trust indicates that organic produce is no better for you than produce under EU legislation can produce.
There may be a marginal taste difference in organic meat. But again this is no difference to free range food (which may not technically be organic)
You can argue all you wish, but as I am set in my ways, you will not convince me.
If there was a pepsi challenge on fresh fruit, you will not tell the difference. Christ, I love my food more than anybody, and take pride in my health. I can assure you if it was any better, I would be the first to pay a little extra.

Actually, Wardy, if you're talking about nutritional value of organic foods then they are better for you. Some more than most. I wouldn't even recommend anyone ever buys pre-washed bagged salad from a supermarket which is rinsed through a mix which has more chlorine than your local swimming pool, stripping it of all pathogens and leaving it with as much nutritional value as cardboard!
But it's also the political point you want to get across. Planned world domination from the likes of Tesco; increased use of illegal labour by farmers who have to provide high demand foods on tap to the supermarkets and also incur the cost of produce left unsold; British farming being abandoned in favour of produce from Plastic Island (west coast of Spain).
I could go on and on.

I flatly refuse to buy any "Free Trade" produce.
The recent advert on helping South African farmers is the devil itself. RSA is, after China, the fastest growing economy in the world. As a ratio, better than ours!!
Third world farmers would be better off if they did something about their corrupt governments. I never buy all this neo-leftie stuff. Someone, somewhere is getting just as rich as Mr Kellogg or My Kiplin. It is all a great fat con.
And as for organic food, I have just tucked in to a nice ripened pear. NOT ORGANIC. I can almost taste the Vitamen C and it was simply divine.
The health benefits are the same. Surely the RDA on fresh fruit and "The Five a Day" motto they have on even non-organic food must be breaching trading standards then!!

We're going to have to agree to disagree Wardy. I'd happily sit and argue this with you, but I'd get too passionate and then it would distract me from work and then I'd get fired.
And believe it or not, I actually agree with you (to an extent) on the Fairtrade issue. I'm more for supporting local farmers than anything else. Mostly for our economy and environment than for the organic aspect.
And just to correct you; Wal-Mart is the devil. Tesco are fighting for the title, but are barely in the same league!
