hello all,
Im looking for some advice..... Iv been trying to lose weight since last October, i lost 2 stone with weight watchers but recently i cant seem to stick to it. I mean I want to lose weight, but i just love eating the things i like. I go out for a meal once a week with my friends or parents and i dont see the point in going out and not eating something u want to.

Should i just learn to think that 'this is the way i am' and learn to love myself or should i keep dieting and be unhappy??

It makes me upset and unhappy as when i am on a diet i feel a failure when i eat something bad or go off track for a week, and then i just spiral back into eating what i want, which again makes me unhappy.

I know people come in all shapes and sizes but I hate being referred to as 'fat' by all those cruel people out there.

someone help me.... please x x x

Well done on losing 2 stone hayley! Im a yo yo dieter but when I set my mind on losing weight I succeed. I always do Slimming World as I can eat as much meat, fish veg etc as I want and have my chocs without feeling guilty as they go in my "syns" box. I think losing weight is something we must do to please ourselves not others. As I get older losing weight seems to be more difficult but I have to watch my cholestral. If you're happy the way you are try not to let the cruel jibes get to you.
that's good you lost two stone, congrats! I would only diet if you want to lose weight (not because some nasty shallow people have called you fat). And if you do wish to then I would look into a diet where you are allowed the odd treat - we're only human after all.

We come in all shapes and sizes and some people will never be a size 10 no matter how much they diet. The thing nowadays is there are so many people in the press who are so skinny - posh/nicole (ritchie) etc that it's pushed it to a new extreme. I know that my male friends/boyf always say they'd prefer someone who has meat on them as opposed to someone who is a size zero.
If you've done Weightwatchers, then you know that no food is forbidden - you can have a glass of wine, a piece of choc, cake, biscuits, crisps but in moderation, a treat now and then. Maybe you can change the way you view things - instead of being miserable because 'you're going on a diet' which suggests denial, perhaps you can think of healthy eating. We get one body that we want to 'last' for as many years as possible and as free from illness as possible so shouldn't we put the best fuel, ie food into it that we can. If you think 'I deserve the best, why am I putting rubbish into my body', maybe you won't crave the crisps and choc. etc. that taste nice but don't have any value for your body. I've never tasted a Krispy Kreme doughnut - I've seen them in the supermarket and I'm sure they taste nice but I just see them as a pile of sugar just there for the purpose of rotting my teeth.

well done, weight watchers is such a great diet, i've been on it for 15 months and lost over 4 stone but now i'm finding it really difficult, once you've lost the majority of the weight you want to lose it's all about toning the muscles and making you look trim again, are you a gold member at weight watchers?
Hi hayley you sound real sad,and you should not be, you should be proud of having lost the weight you have, but you also need a treat now and again, you are right we do all come in different shapes and sizes, people that call you fat are the ones with a real problem they are ignorant, so you need to lose a bit more weight, you can do that and if you want to you will, but do you also do a bit of exercise as well ? that will bring the weight off a lot quicker even if it is just a brisk walk for 10-15 minutes a day, and remember if you are happy as you are great, but you don't sound happy so stick with the diet and get to a weight that you feel happy at, good luck, Ray xx
And all those cruel people out there who call you "fat "are perfect in every way are they?
I don't think so!!! it sounds to me as if ttheyb are the insecure ones, enjoy your body, if you want to change your shape then, do it for your sake not everyone else's.
I've never ever met a fat person ,only fellow human beings who look different from each other
I think you should concentrate on feeling better however you achieve that.
Maybe you just need to think about whether you would want to be like the judgemental people ... you know the sort free and easy to share the very little mind they have . My sisters mother - in - law is the very type, well for years we have had to put up with her acerbic remarks about my neices weight... this kid is ten ( ish ) .Well I snapped a couple of weeks ago, it was not very pretty ... but the upshot is I said something along the lines that I'd rather my neice have a fat ass than a fat mouth - add your own spicy expletives.

You have done really well , concentrate on the hundreds of thing you did right - not the one thing you got wrong, don't beat your self up over it , and you should find your self in a much happier place!
Good luck.
oh wow, this could have been written by me!

I lost 3 stone then fell pregnant (also on ww) and lost while i was pregnant - my little girl is 10 months now and i am 1.5 stone heavier!
I feel awful and so upset with myself and recently left ww again as i cant get into it and feel i am wasting my money.
I have become quite complacent so i am going to give slimming world a go!

don't listen to the low lives that call you fat, people like that are cruel and judgmental and dont deserve to know you
I find weight watchers and slimming world odd. We all know what to do to lose weight. So it seems a lot of money to spend on being told what you more than likely already know.

My one and only bestest dieting tip, regards portion sizes. You know what foods to avoid I am sure. eat your main meal on a sandwich plate. Eating out has made us think these are normal portions when in reality at a Macdonalds you should be eating a happy meal for the right portion size.

Drink 5 dups of nettle tea each day.... its amazing stuff.
Well done on losing the weight hayley, but I'm sure you were already fine as you were. If dieting makes you unhappy, then don't do it - try instead, to do more walking or swimming - both are good for body & mind

Also, I would try not to worry too much about what people think or say. Yes, there are very sarcastic, nasty mouthed people out there, but they should take a good look in the mirror at themselves.....
I find you are the way you want to be.
If you really want to loose wait deep in your heart you should, and your mond will push you to do that.

Woulds you feel like the same person if you lost weight?

There are many healthy meals which taste nice nowadays, like many pasta and rice dishes-manufactures are tyrying to make there food more and more healthy for the five-a-day thing.

My advice is you shouldnt loose wait just because other people want you too, if you family and friends are happy with the way you look and you are aswell dont let other people put you down. Be happy with your body thank god your not some skinny rank looking size 0 cat walk model- Now thats is horrible. Not a bit of meat. You should be proud of yourself for loosing 2 stone, thats more than some people do to look after there body.

Thank you to all who have replied, some really inspiring comments and some excellent advice.

I don't think its the right time for me to continue losing weight at the moment, I'm going to wait til my heads in it again and then give it a jolly good go again!!!
