Tips for men on how to make a good impression include be early for dates and never use cheesy chat-up lines. In the poll women put manners above looks and intelligence. What do you think? Are good manners an absolute must in a partner? Or are they more of a bonus?

My family is pretty big on manners in general, except my 14 year old brother who loves to hold me down when he blows off and says, "Ooh, vintage!" Apparently, it never gets old...
Got to say, though, I'm very impressed if a bloke has good manners, unlike mine who drives me insane with his knife and fork after he's finished dinner! :o)

Manners are just a matter of being considerate to other people. Someone without good manners is just showing you that they're selfish and rarely think of others.
They're generally best avoided in relationships.
It's also not the same as customs like saying "please" and "thank you" but holding doors for other people not just their dates and being on time .
There's also a difference between someone who is clearly naturally well mannered and someone who rather affects them.
If someone is charming to you but bullies the waiter - drop them like a hot potato - they're just making an effort to be nice to you - as sure as day it'll wear off and you'll start getting the same treatment.
