my son is nearly 14 years old, i am a single parent and have been for 14 years on and off.
my question is..........how do i know if my son is 'getting to that age' you know ejaculating and everything.
We are very close we talk about all sorts of things, but im finding this one difficult to talk about.Should i talk about it to him,(we do in jest) or will i know automatically.
Its difficult for him because there is no male around apart from my father who is very ill and to be quite honest no body can really talk to him because he is old and out of touch.
im worried that im not forfilling my roll as a parent, but i do have to be mum and dad.
Any answers would be appreciated.........

You sound like a lovely Mum someguy and if you are as close and open as you say then your son would no doubt approach you if he feels inclined to. In the meantime, as the others have said, leave well alone. It is something that boys generally find their way through on their own.

Sex Ed and PHSE at schools these days is quite different to the basic mechanics that most of us older generation were taught at school. They cover a wide range of the physical, emotional and consequential issues these days, along with educating about the issues surrounding drugs and alcohol too. I know, I am a school Biology Technician and prepare these lessons. Your Son will become better equipped to deal with these things than we ever were.

So don't worry too much about this stage of his life, just be there if and when he needs you.
I would guess that he spends quite a lot of time in the shower. My sister -in -law was complaining about that a year or to ago when my nephew was about 13 - she couldn't understand what he found to do in there for so long! I was about to explain, but thought better of it.
I have all this to look forward to, times two, in about 6 or so years time, so I hope I can remember all this good advice 'til then. I might have to write it all down somewhere, and hope noone ever finds the resulting odd list...!
My son is 14. I have made him change his own sheets for the past 2 years, in order to save any embarrassment.

Bless him.
