Just having a discussion at work about getting check ups at the doctors i.e smear or blokes checkups and my colleague said that if he went and a bloke wanted to do it he'd feel rather uneasy and would much rather have a woman nurse. And I said that's strange because I'd feel uneasy if a bloke did my smear and would much rather have a woman do it. Typical bloke said I must be a lesbian then. I just wondered what most people prefer and why?
When it comes to something like smears and internal examinations, I would definately prefer a woman nurse/doctor.
Something I did notice recently along the lines of this thread is when I was in hospital last month, whenever a male cinsultant needed to feel my baby bump, he had to have a chaperone. I can understand why but was still surprised as he wasnt seeing or touching anywhere else other than my tummy. Even when my partner was right there, they still had to be chaperoned.
Psychick: Sadly, thats merely a sign of the times. It isnt to suggest that theres more inappropriate behaviour than there wassay20 years ago. Instead, its the recognition of the tragically litigious society in which we live.
I prefer a female nurse to carry out any 'intimate' examinations purely because in my own mind I believe that she has a better idea of how to handle..........erm......the goods, in a more sympathetic less purely gynaecological manner. :o)
Although there once was a lesbian nurse, I knew, who, as part of her training, had to give a woman an 'internal' examination under supervision.
"I bet you've never had to do that before" smirked her supervisor.
"...............not with a latex glove on. No." smirked back my friend. lol
