Just having a discussion at work about getting check ups at the doctors i.e smear or blokes checkups and my colleague said that if he went and a bloke wanted to do it he'd feel rather uneasy and would much rather have a woman nurse. And I said that's strange because I'd feel uneasy if a bloke did my smear and would much rather have a woman do it. Typical bloke said I must be a lesbian then. I just wondered what most people prefer and why?
I'd sooner have a woman do it 4get...it's the nurse at our practice, only time I ever saw a bloke to do it was when I was pregnant...didn't feel odd or anything, I just think a woman is more aquainted with what goes on downstairs lol
i would not be comfortable with a man doing my smear test, not sure why i guess its not the most pleasant thing to have done anyway and i like to hope that as a woman carrying out the test they understand and try to make things as comfortable as possible, saying that the last nurse i had was a complete b1tch and i've never been back since.......
Wouldn't bother me either way to be honest, it's not smething I've ever thought about, but I agree with your thinking though. I would have thought that generally a man would prefer to be examined by a man, and a woman by a woman if they had a preference.
probably my bloke has missed his last 3 post checkups so after my nagging he's gone today. But then so many women dont go and get smears because they're are embarrased I'd rather be embarrased for 5mins than dying of cervical cancer.
We have a family physician and every year I have to have a medical. Whether it is for his pleasure or checking for prostate cancer, he puts a lubed finger right up my bum.
To make matters worse he insists a nurse (usually female) is present. I believe this is a cover all incase any allegation of sexual assault is aired by myself.
What has the world come to when a doctor can't stick a finger up somebody's bum without feeling anxious that somebody will sue.
My nephew is an NHS physiotherapist and when a referral comes in from the doctors for a prolapse he dreads the day he will have to do an internal exam. Up to now he has been lucky a female colleague has done them, so it can work both ways for the nurse or patient. There are over 36,000 female midwives and only 100 male midwives in Britain so that speaks for itself , women prefer women.
I don't mind what sex they are, the thing I dislike is when it's a woman and she hasn't a clue what's wrong with you then invites 5 or 6 students in to have a look before telling you it's dermatitus then you find out 3 months later that you've got some kind of disease.
