More expensive if you want a Church doo. Statutary fees in C of E are 240, plus organist and choir will charge (dependant on their standard of music, and bell ringers will charge too. It is their free weekend time which they are giving up, even so 400 isn't too bad, it wouldn't go far on a bar bill would it ?
Its the doo that costs

We are doing the dirty deed next may and the registry office fee is 250 but that is because it is on a saturday if we were to marry in a week day it was only 150 or it was 200 on a friday.
Plus we have to pay 30 extra each as we are getting married outside our borough.
I suppose we will have a few extra fees on top of that, that we dont lnow about yet.

Too right!
My sister always complained she couldn't afford to get married. She ended up winning a competition ~ the prize being a wedding with all the trimmings.
To be honest if that were me I would feel as if I were only getting married to have a 'big day'. As it was, ours was cheap ..but intimate & tasteful ~ no disco, no photographer, no honeymoon. Just a lovely day with friends and family :o)
