If homosexuals cant give blood does that mean they arent allowed to be organ donars either?

the only thing that stops you being accepted for organ donation is HIV or possible CJD infection.

It says you can put down as a potential donor even if not accepted for blood donation. The decision on whether to use organs would be made by a professional looking at your medical history.

I suppose they might risk a dubious organ on someone who would die anyway without it. With blood they can afford to be more cautious.

That is totally ridiculous if you ask me. I'd say more people need blood and to not allow a homosexual to give blood but allow them to donate organs is stupid. Thanks panic. xx

Sorry, 4get, but you are wrong.

If I need blood I do not want it from someone who has put themselves at risk of an incurable disease that I might catch. I will have it from someone else thank you very much.

If however I am at deaths door, and there is only one match for organ transfer, I might consider the risk worth taking.

Are you worried that this might offend the refused blood donor? Frankly their feelings don't matter.

panic button, did you see the statistics were for anal sex and vaginal sex. Surely the risk is there regardless of what sexuality they are? and isnt blood screened?

Yes I saw the statistics in an earlier answer and they seemed pretty conclusive about the increased risk.

Blood is screened, but no test is 100% so they are right to take steps to avoid infected blood being taken.

There is no right or wrong when it comes to my opinion panic. Fair enough if you need blood you wouldn�t want a homosexuals even if it gets tested, but people on deaths door need blood too and you would need blood when getting an organ donation

and no test on organs is 100% either on organ donations. I am not worried it might offend a homosexual, it is just that they are always desperate for blood donations why not let homos donate when hetrosexuals commit the same sexual acts as homos nowadays
