ive got medium length brown hair, if i rough dry it (like with the hair dryer but not brushing it neat), its massive but ... well looks rough, so i usually blow dry with a brush then straighten it. However it then goes a bit skinny and boring , I want to know hot I can make it really big, AND neat, (smooth) like well sexy big hair. But not winehouse. and if i backcomb, it never seems to stay for long, shud i be using some product with it as well? if so what? HELP i need to look fit this weekend? Ive got the dress.... i need the hair x x x

hi, i think you need 'root lift', so some sort of product applied to the roots. im afraid i cant be more specific, im a wash and go girl myself.
You need Charles Worthington Maximum Volume mousse and Revlon make a large hot brush hair styler, finish off with L'Oreal Elnett supreme hold hairspray, works for me every time.
or you could dry it 'rough' then put some heated bendy rollers in for 5 mins, then just shake out all the chunky curls
Hi pop, have you got any layers in your hair? best if you have for lift. Like weeal says - dry your hair, I would dry it smooth myself, & do it night before you going out. Then on night out get some large heated rollers in all over & then brush out. Have a good night. Jane
You can buy large velcro rollers, which you put into dry hair. Just put them in the hair on your crown, spritz with hairspray then set with a hair dryer. You can carefully brush out the curl and keep the volume.
I know just what you mean cos I have the same problem. Try getting some big big rollers and put them in washed, damp hair which has been blow-dried a little bit, and some anti-frizz serum put through it. If you can leave them in a while, then take them out, you should get big hair which is also sleek.
Another thing if you don't wanna buy rollers, blow dry hair a bit, then put it in a pony tail, twist it til it forms a bun, and put a scrunchie on it. Leave for as long as you can. Then when you take it out, it is wavy and bigger, but under control and neat. Don't then brush it all out- but separate it a bit with your fingers. This one is easy and what I do every morning!
