If you a have a cold or the flu is it possible to be infected by another cold or flu virus at the same time?

Technically yes, but it would be difficult to tell. The membranes do become slightly less open to infection as they get more mucus ridden, though.
Definitely yes I work in a job where patients are commonly tested for viruses (by electron microscopy of naso-pharyngeal aspirates or via broncho-alveolar lavage) and it is not uncommon to get more than one positive result
