I am a 24 year old male who has been suffering from Body odour / bad breath for the past 3 and a half years. I first noticed this issue, when people started covering their noses discreetly when I am around, i went to see my GP. i was advise to step up my personal hygenie. I started taking showers and brushing twice daily. but this didn't seem to change this. The problem is almost ruined my life. Over the past 3 years, i have had a tonsillectomy, had a camera inserted into digestive system, through my bum and again though my mouth (endoscopy), had numerous scans, blood and urine tests. All to no avail. the only thing they ever found was some ulcers in the stomach which was treated. I have also tried some complimentary medicine on my our own. My GP also sent me for some counselling -which i attended -but i am pretty sure the problem is not in my head. There is no history of this kind of thing in my family and I cant think of anything from my past that could have caused this. I work in a professional job, and I find it very depressing for work mates to cover there nose when you walk pass them or give opinions in meetings. At first i thought I was been picked on, but even people that i do not know (in supermarkets, public transport etc) do the same. even worse on the personal front - very difficult to make / keep friends. I invest a lot in perfumes, deodorants and the like, but they dont seem to work for me. How can I rescue the rest of my life from this problem? Or is this just what I am? Please help me out of this misery.

Hi Janne!

I must say that after using H2O2 for a while I have noticed very positive changes on my saliva. When I lick on my wrist a whole day after I've been taking H2O2, it doesn't have that sour taste anymore. Also, I don't get that metallic/sour taste I used to get in just a couple of hours after just brushing/scraping before! But the white coating don't dissapear, but in some way it feels like that doesn't matter so much. I have a very strange surface on my tongue so I think it is unavoidable. Also I haven't seen any stains coming back on my brush holder...yet!

I checked the great link you posted and found out about Streptococcus salivarius, bacteria that bad breath sufferers seems to be lacking while people with normal good breath have a lot of them naturally. You have probably also read about it, but I write it just in case. If that is true, then it is maybe possible to add Streptococcus salivarius and get them to grow in the mouth to maintain good breath. There are some products, BLIS K12 among others, that promise that this is possible, though some users on the curezone.com claims it is not working. However, I thought it was very interesting. Do you know anything about that?

Anyway, my doctor (he didn't really have a clue about bad breath problems) thought it maybe could be candida albicans (yeast infection) so instead of taking a sample and examine me first, he prescribed Mycostatin (Nystatin). After taking it for about two weeks I noticed no change with the tongue so I went back to the doctor and then he finally took a sample of the tongue coating and analyzed it. So he said there was no wrong with me at all. He even took blood test to check my liver and kidneys but they were as healthy as they possibly can be.

When you say you can get the most diverse aromas when licking your wrist, that is not depending on what you have been eating right? I have always experienced the same sour vinegar-smell. So maybe you can do a candida test. I don't know what the symptoms are more than just bad breath and white coating on the tongue. But the coating due to candida should be VERY hard to sprape off of the tongue according to what others say. Many, if not all, people already have some candida without it being a problem at all. It is when certain drugs like asthma medications and antibiotics are taken, and good bacteria are eliminated, that candida in some cases can start to grow uncontrolled in the mouth.
By the way Janne, you use H2O2+water, right? Don't you experience any differences at all when licking you wrist?

Hallo - I am going through a similar experience: I also started noticing that I must be producing an unpleasant body smell, when people started fooling around with their noses in my presence. 3years later, I think my condition must have worsened, since now people cough uncontrollably in my presence - it seems that my body odour is somehow pungent. Again, what is strange is that my family/ close friends/ boyfriend say that I don't smell bad. My GP thinks I am paranoid, since he claims he does not smell anything, my gynaeco/ dermatologist/ internists also say they don't detect anything other than perspiration, if anything. In the last 2years, I have had every possible test performed under the sun, but I always come out with a clean bill of health!!. The only thing I haven't done is a hormone test (apparently, "the experts" think am too young to be worrying about eem to

I totally understand the societal rejection feelings and the depression that comes with the powerlessness of this ailment - I am also a professional and face the disapproving responses from colleagues. It takes every ounce of strength to keep your head up in and focus on the work at hand. After exhausting every possible cosmetic/ medication/ hygiene practises (I also shower 2x a day and never wear the same clothes twice in a row)/ medical solution combinations, I am now only left with a sense of frustration and feeling of lack of control of my destiny. This is totally not the me of 3 years ago - who was extremely sociable, outgoing, professionally driven and very much there for others. I'm not sure why this should have happened to me (perhaps over-abuse of cosmetic products, genetic, not sure..), but what is clear is that I need to get to the bottom of this - I would like to get more background details and describing the clinical details from the people in this forum who are help

Hello Manhat_terv,

Thanks for contributing  to the thread.

I recently visited a "nutritional therapist" who performed a food sensitivity test on me. it turned out that i am sensitive to foods like eggs, cow's milk, onions, tomatoes, tuna, E621 etc. Most of these food items were part of my diet prior to the test. I was advised to steer clear of the foods for a while and alternatives were suggested. I am following this advice and see where it takes me. Would post any update.

C - hadn't thought of a nutrition therapist; perhaps I could look into this - GOOD TIP!!. Where I'm living, I don't think these are available around every corner!. Do let me know if your dietary adjustments help in any way. By the way, are you combining nutrition therapy with any other kind of therapy?.

Heya c_niekerk

If specialists such as doctors and coucillors have not been able to help your plight maybe the cause and effect of your condition is in some way mental. Perhaps your anxiety about the situation and inherent insecurity is what is causing you to sweat excessively! When you are home, relaxed and bathed I'm sure you find that the problem is less prominent...Using too many chemicals and deodorants on your body is also not a terrific idea, it only masks odours sometimes making it worse. I suggest you just have a real scrub down..use only roll on or minimal anti perspirat..try also not to use colourful and fragrant soaps but rather the disinfectant types or plain white soap with neutral ph...and most of all just RELAX..also you'll find that most ppl are quite tolerant of things that can't be changed..it sounds to me like you have taken great concern to alleviate the situation and perhaps the covering of noses ect is not so much due to your natural odour but rather an over supply of whatever stuffs you are using to combat your body odour. As far as your breath is concerned...I find that many ppl who are insecure about their breath will find many reasons to keep their mouths closed and not to speak..this just causes your mouth to become stale quite frankly...breathe in and out thru ur mouth a lot when no one is watching and drink a lot of water...and chew a mint but just remember to allow a lot of air into your mouth!! Hope this helps and GOOD LUCK!

Thanks animosity for your comments!

Manhat_terv,
I am not really combining the nutritional therapy with any other therapies at the moment - although I take multiminerals & vitamin pills as well as probiotics capsules. It is still early days (two weeks) but i have a feeling that i am on the path to my solution.

Thanks animosity for your advice!

C_niekerk: I tried to see a nutrition therapist, but could only find a Diet Consultant - who ended up being quite useless. It seems that as long as there is no obvious pathology, specialists are reluctant to try and dig deep into causes exhaustively!. Back to square1, but forever relentless!

Hi C_niekerk & Manhat_Terv!!!

I have the same problems with you. It happenned to me 3 months ago and I don't know what to do right now. I am a international student that studying in Canada. I must have my presence in publics place like schools or publics tranportation. People cover their noses, uncontrolled cough when I stand behind them( even it's not to close).

Last messages that you guys talk about nutrition therapies. So how it worked and how are your conditions right now, please let me know. I am still work hard for finding the solution in my problem. And I hope anyone can help us.Thanks. ( sorry because my Enghlish was not good)

chuanbeo - my heart goes out to you, for what you must be going through!. I'm afraid i don't have good news re. progress or improvements on my condition. I have failed to get solid answers from any reliable source, so the only thing I'm doing at the moment is working with a psychologist to help me handle the emotional aspects - ie trying not to get too upset when people respond negatively in my presence. I am trying to find an odour specialist (eg a perfumer) to see if they can pinpoint the type of odour I produce - this way, we may be able to establish whether it's metabolic (dietary), allergic (eg to cosmetic products), psychological (eg due to nervousness) or something else. Although some people tell me I don't smell(obviously people I know), I am more convinced then ever that I do have an odour problem (based on most people's negative reactions, so I'mm continue to find answers.

Please do keep in touch - would be interested to hear how you are coping.

Best wishes!

Hi i understand how embarrasing your problem is as i suffered from bad breath for the last 8 years. I use therabreath plus toothpaste and rinse 3x day. And ive recently had positive results with acidophilius capsules 4x a day and chlorella 500mg 10-15 a day but as you can see it ain't cheap in fact it uses all my spare cash but you just feel that desperate. Therabreath is reasonable on QVC website and chlorella on internet sites is cheaper than health food shops, just type in word and they all come up. I have noticed that the bitter taste is gone and i my mouth feels cleaner. Ive tried acupunture, nutritionists, homeopathy, tonsillectomy, operation on my sinuses and non did the trick. So believe me im researched. Ive also read that the h-pylori bacteria can cause bad breath it embeds in your stomach. You need to take mastic gum supplement to kill it coz if you go to doctors they will prescribe antibiotics that only make bad breath worse. Hope ive been a smidgen of help, but i am feeling more positive if even a bit skint!

In my country is sold the medication named

"Lacto 7" or "Lacto seven" it consits:

Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Bifidobacterium longum, Streptococcus faesium, Streptococcus thermophilus, Leoconostoc mesenteroides.

7 good bacterias.

It helped for bad breath odour.

Unforthunately I still have bad body odour (like I don't sweat a lot but stink bad.

I'm also looking for answers and when I find the solution

I'll defenately write here.

Best wishes

Hi everyone,

I cant believe its almost 2 years since i started this thread. Things are still very much as they were, on the odour front ... but i think i now able to deal with people's reaction better. Mid last year, i ditched my "free" GP (general practitioner) and had a few consultations with a private doctor on London's Harley Street. After running the usual blood tests and physical examination he concluded that there was nothing unusual with me. I also spent a small fortune visiting a private dentist late last year , but the key issue of odour still remain.
So now, I am just making sure i eat right and maintain a good level of health. Still interested in a cure though - if anyone stumbles across one.

Regards
