I'm just curious as to the answers here Noxy (hello by the way!!)

I'm seriously wondering how many have given an automatic response, without really putting themselves in that position and how many have given a "lets say the right thing" kinda response.
I wouldn't want to live with someone who is capable of murder. I'd rather turn them in.

what if you lied and then they killed someone else?
Well some people feel really strongly about it and would without a doubt know that they could not lie. I could not lie.
T o answer leggy no I wouldn't lie for a rapist, that is an inexcuseable hate crime at all times and nothing whatsoever to do with sex, it's purely about power, hate and the abuse of someone weaker than yourself. However, there are occasions when I would lie for someone who had killed someone or seriously injured someone, but not for a drink driver etc, again that's beyond the pale and you'd have to take responsibility for what you'd done in that scenario. But if someone I KNEW had killed a child was murdered, had repeatedly victimised and abused those around him, then yeah probably I would lie for the murderer and I'm really not so apologetic about that, I think there are many shades of grey, and not so much black and white as you'd might like to think.

As I said it depends on who they killed and why npt on who they are, that's another question altogether. I wouldn't automatically lie for my child or close loved one.
hm.

I guess I would want to know more about it, then decide for myself if I believed their story. This is legally and ethically dodgy. If I had total faith in the police of course I would not lie. But I don't. Or in the courts either.

But as to whether I'd be doing the right thing.... don't know.
NOX - youre saying that if the victim was an abuser then you would lie to protect the killer? I can see where you are coming from,
I still couldnt do it tho. But I would see why you did it.

Hmmm, as others have said, it would depend on what the murder involved, and who it was and why they did it.
The police are only interested in getting a result, apparently there has been a 35% rise in corrupt officers.
That is a massive figure.
I dont have a partner so i have never been in that postion, but if i did, then yes i would lie if she murdered for the right reason in her eyes, but fell into my category of whats right and wrong...

id never lie 2 cover 4 ne1 to cover a crime of ne sort to much hassle.

Hmmm, it all boils down to how much you love your partner...
well...they do say love is blind eh
no wonder there are so many creeps on the street is all I can say

if my child was running around with a gun or a knife, they need to be taught a serious lesson. I wouldn't cover for them, they would be well out of my control and would deserve their punishment.
