Tummy exercises

What exercises are good for the stomach/abdominal muscles apart from sit ups?
No matter how many times I have been taught to do situps, i always pull myself up with my neck instead of stomach, so want to try something different to tone them up

The mine has a little computer on it to say how many I've done/calories burned etc.
It's much better and doesn't strain your neck or back.
Mind you, it's sitting in a cupboard gathering dust LOL

Stomach exercises won't give you a flat stomach and when I had a fit body an abs to die for, I rarely ever did them.
All you need to do is have a healthy diet, low in saturated fat, do some Cardiovascular exercise at least 20 minutes 3 times per week, keep your heartrate up for that time and do some resistance training.
What also helps is pulling your belly button in towards your spine (keep breathing though). This activates your Transversus Abdominis muscles, which are a girdle of deep seated stability muscles. Doing this actually works stomach muscles, without doing much.

Pulling your abs in as described does work them, as I explained but you obviously haven't bothered to read. The question by Chazza was what is good for abdominal muscles.
Most people have abdominal fat covering their ab muscles, we all have that six pack, but it is obscured by fat and the only way to have visible abs is by reducing Bodyfat. You can do as many ab crunches as you like, it will not show tight abs. You cannot spot reduce fat Mr Bounty for your info
So stop being a bitch!

Not being a bitch at all - just find it bizarre that in your original post, you said "Stomach exercises won't give you a flat stomach", "All you need to do is have a healthy diet, low in saturated fat", "do some Cardiovascular exercise at least 20 minutes 3 times per week" and "What also helps is pulling your belly button in towards your spine".
Now, all lovely jubbly, indeed, but by indicating that this is how you get a decent stomach is odd.
Are you telling me that all those fancy machines and all the gyms, etc around the world are wrong?
I'll just say that i would rather follow the instructions of a professional.....

Mr Bounty. You are a bitch and having read previous posts, I see you are always looking to antagonise people.
Perhaps I didn't get my point across exactly as you would like, but as a Personal Trainer, I know what I am talking about. It would do you well to consider your spiteful behaviour on here.
It would take time for me to explain to Chazza the correct way to exercise. All these fancy machines in the gym are effective. I also explained the need for resistance training,. To someone like you without knowledge, that means doing weights. I noticed you ommited this in copying my post.
You really are a nasty person. You would do well to consider posting your bitchy, vindictive comments beforehand. If you want to argue with someone, do it with your wife or whoever.

i can see what velvet is saying.
I could do all the situps in the world at the moment but without going on a diet no-one will see perfact abs under my fat.
velvet, i do think you need to take a huge deep breath though and start the day again, meant in the nicest possible way. (ps i reckon pink bump, judging by the "bitch" comment, been there done that xx)
