I have thick, long layered shoulder length hair, which I colour every six/eight weeks or so & even though it's straight, I still use my hair straighteners to give it a more sleeker look.
Over the years, I've tried nearly every shampoo & conditioner on the market, but found the best ones are 'Professional Gianic/Calvaro' Shampoo & Professional Giani/Calvaro Moisterising Conditioner.
i agree with chinadog, aussie 3 minute miracle is brilliant.
i just use tresemme thermal recovery shampoo and conditioner, leaving the conditioner in for as long as possible in the shower before rinsing, and that works great - I don't bother with anything else anymore.
i've got very unruly coloured thick wavy hair which has to be either blow dried amazingly, straightened or curled to look half decent!! i used to swear by mark hill (the red one, heat protecting about 5 a bottle) which smelt amazing too, but after a few months my hair became 'immune' to it and started to feel greasy wih product. i can always 'feel' GHD products on my hair which i didn't like and my hairdresser always recommended Kerastase but he was a supplier for them and it cost about 10 a bottle (250ml)!!
I stock up when the tresemme's on offer now (sometimes 2 massive 900ml bottles for 5 at tesco or boots) because I've tried just about everything too over the years and none have been this good!
oh thanks all. to be honest i have used aussie products in the past...and i find they are good at first but my hair seems to get used to them pretty quickly and after a few weeks i need to change or my hair looks a bit dull.
All of the products mentioned above a relatively low-end products. Basically when it comes to a hair you get what you pay for. If your buying a good quality shampoo and conditioner there should be no reason why your hair would 'get used to it'. Basically what you mean by this is that the amount of silicone and other plastics in the product have built up on the hair and it is limp and none reflective. By switching to another similar quality product you will notice a difference in the first couple of weeks, but then the same will begin to happen.
Invest in a good quality product like Redken. It might seem like its more expensive but the products do really last a lot longer and they are certainly more beneficial to the hair. I have used Redken Smooth Down for the past 6 years and i have never had a need to use anything else. My hair is strong, shiny and well conditioned.
