cancer pain

not wanting to sound morbid but i know i will do, sorry, i dont know anyone close to me who has died of cancer fortunately, in the light of jades imminent death, i am interested to know what kind of pain cancer causes, it is sharp shooting pains, stinging pains, prolonged dull pain, i am sure that medication does help but the pain must get so bad if it has to be adjusted accordingly.

if you're in any pain yourself advise you to get checked immediately by doctors so make an appt - my wife just got her cervical cancer regular check letter through, from the NHS and has made her appointment already ( regular checks keep you at ease ) good luck

if you not in pain can't help you, but why would you want to know what kind of pain it causes?!!

My Dad died of cancer and his pain was dreadful. Had to call out doctor over Xmas and he apologised that he could not administer the strength of painkiller required. Took Dad back to the hospice at 3.00 am and duty nurse gave him an injection that killed the pain. She was a specialist paliative care nurse and explained that a GP would not dare give the required dose as would kill a normal person. In his terminal stage Dad was on morphine doses that would kill a horse, but he was not in pain.

Quite agree with Mcmouse. My Dad had a blood disorder and was in dreadful pain until the hospice got it under control. Bless him he wouldn't use the pain relief at first because he was frightened of getting addicted. ( The hospice at home nurse told him he wouldn't get addicted as it was for pain relief ) ( not that he didn't have long enough ! )

Different cancers cause different pains. When I had my last bout of cancer the pain was just constant all over even though the cancer wasn't. I felt like I was being burnt even the morphine did nothing or the chemo (which my surgeon said could be used as pain relief) thankfully I'm in remission at the moment.But I can't imagine and I try not to think about how bad the pain would be at the end.

Bubbles if you are in pain go to the doctor as ianfran has suggested, I agree with him it is a strange question to ask.

i am not in pain thankfully, thank you for your concerns though.im just very curious to know what kind of pain it is, sorry to be morbid but the jade thing made me wonder just what she is experiencing. glad you are in remission nannyjill.

I know that when we went to organise my mum's funeral the director asked if we wanted to say " peacefully " and I said "No , kicking, screaming and shouting to the bitter end" we compromised with just saying where and when.
