i got back from cancun mexico on saturday. yesterday i felt weird with a headache, as though i was spaced out and had a slight sniffle. today i feel the same, feel exhausted, have a high temperature off and on and a bit of pain in my back on the right too. ive looked up the symptoms for swine flu and am scared that i have it though i dont seem to have a cough or all the symptoms and my hubby seems well enough. im scared to contact the doctor in case they put me into quarantine, whatever that entails. do you think i will be ok if i just let it pass and stay in bed for a few days. im taking ibuprofen which i think will stave off the temperature.

Essential that you contact your GP with your suspicions, not only for your safety. but for other peoples.
Definitely agree with Sqad.

No it won't.

You will have to be tested and if positive, then contacts will have to be traced and they will have to be tested.

Don't be silly.
Please go and see you GP Bubbles. Its better to be safe than sorry and at least you can be treated if it is swine flu.

my temperature was 98.6c by the way so not overly high and think this is normal isnt it but near to being a temperature? im just scared in case i make a fuss and also who is there to contact, went to the supermarket and to a restaurant yesterday as i tried to plod on so the numbers could be endless, surely staying indoors away from people from now on for a few days will help and it wil pass just like normal flu.
Bubbles, on second thought I would stay at home if I were you but I would give your GP a call and arrange for a home visit or contact your local NHS Direct http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/

As I said you need to get yourself checked out to rule it out but do it now.
Question Author
but surely if it is, it cant kill me, thought it was only dangerous if you had an underlying medical condition which it then exacerbated?
I hope this is not a wind up!

When did you go to Mexico and how long were you out there for?
Question Author

This is the government information...

This is the NHS advice...

Stay indoors and away from people and call your GP for their advice as to what, if anything, should be done.

Try and see the bigger picture as the authorities need to track cases to best work out how to deal with the outbreaks.
Sorry Bubbles, I didn't mean to doubt you, I'm just worried for you, your hubby and anyone else you have been in contact with with your symptoms. And I seriously hope that you DO NOT have swine flu but as I said before its better to be safe than sorry xxx

thanks for your concern, as i said will see how i feel tomorrow
good attitude bubbles - screw the consequenses eh?

if you don't know them it doesn't matter.
... just as long as it doesn't inconvenience you
scared in case you go into quarentine?

why dont you just find out if youve got more than just a touch of a cold first eh?

call NHS direct, the flu helpline or your GP!!
How irresponsible. You need to see the doctor NOW, even if it's a false alarm.
If I knew you, I would report you myself.
