i put some cream on my cheek to get rid of a brown sun spot. did it a few days only last week. i wondered why i had a sort of red burning area on my face and now i know why. ive had the cream for ages, a dermatologist gave it me to try a few years ago. i noticed skin peeling off so ive exfoliated but its still rid. what can i put on it to stop the burning sensation? ie what neutralises acid im guessing basically? ive put some antibiotic cream on it but doesnt seem to have helped.

Take the tube of cream along to your nearest pharmacy and ask the advice of the pharmacist on duty.

not had chance and wont get to do it til wed. at earliest. im wondering what i can use as an antidote, ie. what is an alkaline i can put on it as i assume the cream has acid/bleach in it. ive looked up lemon juice but that seems a bit strong to me, not tried it yet.
Why are you so sure the cream is acidic? Sounds more that it has caused an allergic reaction or burn. I'd try really gentle things like calamine lotion, aloe vera or even just water soaked pads and get to a chemist for advice when you can.
Lemon juice is very acidic and will sting like hell and irritate further.
I ask you!

Who would put cream on their face, not knowing what it is?

Put your head into a bucket of water until the bubbles stop. No pain then....
^ snigger...
Only a complete helmet would offer that sort of answer.
Albags.

I notice again that you covet my large red helmet.

Deeply subconscious....
Does it match your FS1E, by any chance, Woody13 ?
If you genuinely can't get to a chemist then use something such as sudocrem to sooth it, do not try to neutralise it in any way.

What is the name of the cream and why did the dermatologist give it to you in the first place?

by the way, the cream is hydroquinone.

Hydroquinone is banned in the UK so how on earth did you come by it? No reputable, medically qualified, dermatologist would have prescribed this to you in the UK.
Did you buy this cream online and are now too embarrassed to admit this to a GP or pharmacist? If that is the case then you need to put aside the embarrassment and seek medical help.

water is best for bleach burns....plenty of rinsing.
your skin is peeling or flaking and is a natural reaction.. you cant stop your body doing what it needs to do!
Keep it moisturised with the cream you are using and get to a pharmacy for more advice!

yes i bought it online, didnt realise it was banned, just saw it was good for removing sun spots. i had no idea! wow! will take in tube tomorrow, why is it banned here then?
Question Author
btw, it was a dermatology site where i had a consultation online. do you think i should report it?
It is banned here in the UK mainly because of the nasty side effects such as you are experiencing now, also because it has been shown to cause cancer in mice when given orally in high concentration. Obviously you wouldn't be ingesting your face cream but even so there is a small risk. The cream can even cause darkening of the skin according to what I have read online and has to be used forever once you start to keep the lightened skin tone.
You bought medication on the Internet!!!! do you not watch the news? have you not seen what goes into this stuff OMG!!! be careful!!!!
