I've got an apointment at my local dentist for the first time later today after moving from one miles away.
I'm only going for a check up seeing as its my first time there, but to put it mildly im bricking it already, sweaty palms and everything (I'm such a baby)
Anyhoo...
Can you tell the dentist "look, unless my teeth are in danger of literally falling out my gob, im not having owt done" ? Or is that not the done thing to do? I'm only going really to 'keep on the books' so to speak.
Don't worry BOO, the anticipation is always worse than the actual event.
We have a very dishy dentist and the young women in the area were rapidly booking in for check ups when he came to the practice! He is Portugese and VERY handsome, but looks about 12 to me (think he's late 20's actually).
I just lie there and do Yoga breathing exercises. slow long breaths with eyes closed thinking of a pleasant scene. My students say it helps them a great deal.
I'm not keen on the dentists but needs must. I have to have a filling replaced Thursday myself :0(
I think it will be the Dentist himself who will be cowering in fear of you BOO. He will probably be hiding behind his Chair shouting at the Nurse 'Tell that Woman her Teeth are fine and I'll see her in 6 months'......lol lol
What time is your appt.B00? I thought you would have been and come back by now, and bought a t-shirt. Best thing is to book these things first thing in the morning so its over and done with then you don't have to worry about it all day. I usually do that with the docs appts. specially if I'm going for a smear test which I absolutely detest.
Not long to wait now BOO... I hate the dentist too....the doctors.... anything like that...I even get knotted up If I have to take one of the cats to the vets... !! now that is pathetic!! lol..Good Luck for later... Let us all know how it goes! xx
I knew someone with the exact same fears as you and she never went to the dentist. Then a few years ago she had no choice as she had some problems. After it was all over she said she didn't know what she was worried about. Just think that at 4.30 it will all be over then you can go home relieved in the knowledge that you DID IT! Treat yourself to a big cake of your choice on the way home.
Glad all went OK, BOO.....got jist of thread. :0) x
Watch 'Marathon Man'...with Dustin Hoffman....it will help to relax your nerves when you go on the 2nd March.
It's about a Marathon runner who has dodgy teef like Shane MacGowan, but overcomes it due to his Guardian Angel, Frankie Avalon................oh and his nickname's Frenchie ( ? )
