I've got an apointment at my local dentist for the first time later today after moving from one miles away.

I'm only going for a check up seeing as its my first time there, but to put it mildly im bricking it already, sweaty palms and everything (I'm such a baby)

Anyhoo...

Can you tell the dentist "look, unless my teeth are in danger of literally falling out my gob, im not having owt done" ? Or is that not the done thing to do? I'm only going really to 'keep on the books' so to speak.

lol B00, you'll be fine. Try taking an ipod or something with you to listen to. Similarly after not going to the dentist for 20 years, I needed 1 filling! I only have 3 now so count myself very lucky.

lucky you Annie!

Thanks to my very healthy diet of cigs, coffees and cakes ive a gobful of fillings, infact think ive more fillings than teeth. You'd think i'd be used to it by now!
LOL.....You'll be fine, sweetheart.....a filling's easy peasy and over in a minute or two.

We will be here to psych you up, if need be on the 2nd. Dont worry about it for now :0) x
Well, I'm scottish B00 and was brought up on sugar pieces and fizzy juice - it's a bit of a miracle that I don't have a mouth full of wooden teeth like most of the population! I'm nearly 45 btw. The dentist reckons that the reason I have so little treatment is because I didn't go - he says that if I had gone regularly I would have a mouth full of fillings too. The tendancy was to fill anything that even looked liek it was thinking of decaying, when actually if you leave well enough alone, most little brown bits on the chewing surfaces of your teeth don't come to anything. I get an xray taken every couple of years and no problems underlying either. Maybe it's just genetics, my mum still has most of her own teeth and she is 78 this year - she was dentist phopic fo many years too so maybe that's the saving grace. I should maybe stop taking the boys along.
