had my 6 monthly check told needed 2 fillings ok got them done and paid for. Was in lot of pain went back an dentist said could not see a problem she then coated them with something and said try that once again paid for that. Still in a lot of pain went back 2 days later she took xray of tooth an said filling too deep and has disturbed the nerve, would have to remove filling and the nerve and start again. I then asked her to remove the tooth ok this was done again to be paid for. Now i have still alot of pain far worse than before need to go back again tomorrow maybe to get other tooth that was filled out. To me it has just cost me extra expense had no pain in teeth at all til this filling business should i have to be paying for all this extras my sisters dentist sorts problems out but no exrta cost. Has anyone else been in this position and do you think I should tell her about all this extra costs I have had to pay. Right now I feel my whole jaw is beating if that makes sense so painful, painkillers no good anymore.

I would say try another dentist. This is sounding very similar to something i went through, and it turned out to be a abcess that formed after having a crown fitted that also involved a deep filling ( not a root canal).Had i listened the the first dentist, who denied very strongly and rudely, that there was any problem with the work he had done (kept telling me i was imagining it and to go to the doctors and tell him that in his opinion i had a sinus infection)i would also be minus 2 teeth now. When i went to new dentist he was appalled as all the symptoms i described were all classics for an abcess and not anything that needed teeth pulling out.Would definately advise a second opinion.
Are you NHS? Actually, even if private I would thought this would apply too...
Basically, my dentist only charged me the one fee, even if unexpected work had to be done after. Even without that, just reading that, it sounds like the paid is all down to mistakes your dentist made originally, so why should it cost more?

thanks so much for answering about my problem just as I thought should not have cost me again and again. Never have I had such a painful mouth with toothache. Now tomorrow probably get 2nd tooth out and yet pay again for, I feel dentists mistake not mine. She is new dentist by the way I know everyone has to learn but two fillings gone wrong is not on. Got tooth out on wednesday and has got worse ever since.
A new dentist? And ot to learn? I'm sorry, but not in my gob and gnashers! No bloody way!
Go elsewhere.
I remember once going to a dentist years ago, and just as as he was about ot examine my teeth, he dropped something and said "oops, im so forgetful and clumsy this morning", i shot out of there like my backside was on fire!

if it's an NHS dentist, any treatment that has to be done up to 2 months after the original treatment (or an ongoing course) should be covered by ewhat you have already paid. What have you apid in total? There is a possibility that you have gone up from band 2 to band 3 treatment. You should not have paid any more than £198 in total
