Labour Meets Its Manifesto Pledge Of 2 Million Extra Nhs Appointments
Even now, I can see TTT’s house adorned with bunting celebrating this achievement, soon to be followed by fawning posts from him on AB saying ‘How pleased are you that you voted Labour now?’, and such like - but then again, perhaps not.
Don’t expect much coverage of this in the right-wing media, who along with TTT have been demonising the Labour party forever.

Perhaps he can now get on and smash the gangs he repeatedly promised ad nauseum in the run up to the GE. Since Labour have been in Govt the number of small boat arrivals has increased by a massive 28% in the same period from a year earlier.

I don't believe a word of it, not least because two million is an awfully big number to squeeze in. Hundreds would be a push for already over-stretched medical services - but millions? Not on your Nelly! Conveniently massaged statistics that few are in a position to dispute. Some fall for it though.
I would be mightily surprised if there was not a greater number of appointments:
"The government says the target was achieved between July and November last year, when there were almost 2.2 million more elective care appointments compared to the same period in 2023."
Between July and November 2023 there were something like 12 says of doctors' strikes, involving both consultants and junior doctors.
Maybe more appointments but not much done in them for me anyway. Asked to see doctor back in June last year. After getting nowhere on phone to surgery finally got one afte using online form, a phone call from doctor then a few appointments to see physio including one where they sent me to wrong place so didn't see them. After this a couple of phone call ones again then a face to face where they decided to do a CT scan which took 10 weeks to get result, then couple more phone calls. All these probably class as appointments. Outcome was that on scan they have found nodules on lung so now waiting for more appointments. Eight months, lots of apppointments but no treatment so far but hey I have contributed to the number of them they claim to have had. Also they have sent wife to see the chemist rather than give her appointment on a few occasions only to have them say she should have been seen by a doctor. Afterwards in most times given a phone call. Moan over.
I was recently referred to a consultant by my GP. I received a letter telling me to ring in a month's time if I hadn't heard anything. I did and was told that the waiting list was about 18 weeks and that some people had waited 30 weeks. I decided to go privately and was seen in 2 days. It's ok releasing extra appointments but people also need to be seen within a reasonable time frame.
Does it ever cross your mind that the reason you may be waiting so long is because doctors and nurses are leaving the NHS in droves, why? because of the abuse and slagging off they get day after day. This thread is a good example.
When people like yourself finaly get to hospital or wherever they have been sent, the staff there are the ones who have to bare the abuse. Ask yourself would you stop in a job where you are the punchbag?
The NHS over the last 14years has been a very unattractive place to work or even considering training to become a medical worker.
Since covid even a higher percentage than normal have decided to jump ship.
You cant force or expect your expectations from anyone.
