'Care providers', that'll be the two slow walking wimmin dressed in pinkish/purplish uniform who pop in for five minutes the go and sit in the car texting.

Thickly accented pidgin English counts toward employment prospects too.

They are the public face of a national disgrace which is lining the pockets of some of the worst people in the country.

Our care providers are lovely, the men and women who help keep our house ticking over and us sane.  They speak perfectly good English (some might have trouble understanding one's Black Country accent) and cheer us all up.

Care providers have been complaining for hte last decade that they don't get enough money for caring for those in need.

The whole thing needs looking at and sorting out.

As you probably know, MrJ2 was in hosital for some time (7+ weeks) from mid-Dec.. He was longer in re-hab. than needed because a Care Package could not be put together.  None of the hospital's agents would take up the 6-week package - not financially viable since we live 10 miles from town.

They tried to put him in a care home for a few weeks instead - no spaces. In the end, I said I'd do it myself just to get him home again.

It's been tough - and I had a lovely friend and neighbour, who is a Marie Curie nurse working nights so she popped in on her way home and helped with getting him up, dressed, shaved and showered etc..

Otherwise he'd possibly still be bed-blocking.  It really is a nightmare - we get no state help at all and I have to keep the house at about 22C to keep him warm.  He's now doing well and did his 1st outdoor walk yesterday.

When you need care - you need care, no-one asks to be disabled for whatever reason. The system is a nightmare.

Pleased to hear your husband is improving, jourdain, and hope he continues to progress well.  Hope you are looking after yourself, too.

We'll go with your experience then, Barry, better all round not to complain, for cohesion etc.

If I had a complaint about any carer I would complain to their bosses if they are employed, or fire them if they are self-employed.  I would not tolerate a carer who didn't do the job properly

Seen lots of care workers in opperation and you only need to answer one question right to become one, have you got your own car? Yes, you've got the job. :0) The care companies charge a fortune and pay their staff peanuts, plus a mileage allowance, after using their cars for 3/4 months and a few repair bills down the road they relise they are running their cars into the ground for nothing. I've seen care workers spend less than 15mins in someones home, and off to the next, the quicker they cover their alotted calls the quicker they get back home and have the rest of the day off. But can you blame them on crap wages.
