right, I know this is going to make it sound like I've been around the block a few times, and I really haven't, but...
when I start seeing a man I make an effort with my undies. sometimes I buy new ones, but generally it's all matching and rather nice, if I do say so myself!
but.... the men have the same old faded boxers that look years old. why is this? don't they care what impression they make? or do they think that by the time we're at the undies stage we won't care anyway? (we do. well I do anyway!)
do tell, please... !!

That's the same feeling as you get when you see another woman at the same "do" with the same dress as you. Blokes don't really care, they will sling on a pair of jeans and a shirt and be happy if every other bloke is dressed the same. If a woman is interested, regardless of how he is dressed, he must have got it right and will continue to be that way! I couldn't care about matching/new pants so long as your "bits" are clean.
