Hi. I want to lose around 2½ stone by the end of June. Someone has told me to change my diet each week. ie do the cabbage soup diet for half a week & then reduced calorie/healthy eating for the remainder. Then do the 3 day diet, and then eat healthy/reduced calorie again and so on with various crash diets. They reckon if I do this, I will confuse/trick my metabolism and I'd be looking at a weight loss of around 4lbs per week.

What do others think, could it work?

I doubt any diet-or combination-will cause you to lose that much in 8 weeks. And-it will all come back on with a vengeance.

I thought carbs were good
Ric.ror - they are, for athletes & manual workers. As modern Britain increasingly becomes people in offices sat on their bottoms ruining their eyes with PC screens (in the warm thank god) the carb intake of the nation should reduce.

Like all things, a little in moderation is usually enough!
There are good carbs and bad carbs. Eating fruit, wholemeal bread and pasta, potatoes, and healthy cereals like oats are good for you in moderation. I usually have bread and other complex carbs during the day and then non-carb meals in the evening. I would say that you need some of the of these carbs for fibre to help digestion.
