I joined slimming world this week at last! Not sure about it though. Seems very expensive. You could eat all day long and fill up on fruit and veg.But fruit has alot of sugar in it so how do they justify this? My grocery bill has doubled this week too------so can't keep this up for long!!

It's fat that is the main problem. I joined SW a couple of months ago and have been losing weight consistently ever since. I would recommend it to anyone as you never need to feel hungry, as long as you are prepared to eat the right stuff. Good luck, grange, keep at it.
Yes-you can eat pasta, rice, and bread in abundance. But these are carbs that convert into...guess what..sugar!.As the body will burn sugar first-any fat (both good and bad)eaten gets stored, and not used by the body.
Also, grains are what farmers feed animals to fatten them up..think about it.
You're vetter off sticking with non-processed food, and stay away from white carbs.

My OH has been going for six weeks on SW, he lost a stone, but last week although he did nothing different, he put on four pounds!! He merely eats fruit all day and has a fat free meal at night, usually out of the SW recipe books. Not sure it is working for him now, and all he lost at the outset was water.
As pasta freak says, I think it is better to stick to non processed foods to lose weight. A friend of mine has done it through a dietician and lost loads without cutting out her favourite foods, she just cooks everything fresh and nothing comes out of a tin, packet, or the freezer.
