Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

This month we would love your low calorie breakfast ideas, thanks to OG. After watching a couple of semi-scary TV programmes this week about how bad our diet is in general some fresh ideas would be welcomed :-).

One programme even suggested that going back to a traditional FUll English is a good idea, less sugar and processed carbs etc!! Not sure if I have time for that every morning.

This sounds yum though:

or

Let us know how you start your day a low-calorie way.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Good morning all, Now I can say it, I've lost just over a stone since January and have one more to go. I imagine it will be the hardest. Today I am going to buy a pair of trainers with the hope that they will help this aching heel problem I have. I have seen that it was easier to loose weight when I went for a brisk walk...(well brisk for me) every day.

Good morning all,
Now I can say it, I've lost just over a stone since January and have one more to go. I imagine it will be the hardest. Today I am going to buy a pair of trainers with the hope that they will help this aching heel problem I have. I have seen that it was easier to loose weight when I went for a brisk walk...(well brisk for me) every day.
Well done xstitcher you have done well. I am stuck again so will see what next week says .
Thanks Wendilla. You'll go down next week, no fear.
I forgot to say that I went down one pound this week.
Well done x, good luck for next week wend.
Am I doing something special next weekend OG?
I seem to be less clear in my posts than I thought :-)
Hmmmmmm
The first half of the sentence was directed towards yourself ;-)
I'm going to pass on this one. I'm completely lost now. I should know better than to try and jest with you OG. :-D
Hello everyone, I'm putting on weight at the mo, so am not very happy with myself.
PS Xstitcher, Old Geezer calls you "x", and he calls Wendilla "Wend", hth
Aha, the penny has dropped....thanks Marijn. My head must be in the clouds today.
Sorry about your weight going the wrong way. What do you think has caused it? Shall we put you on the naughty step or would you rather just take a brisk walk? :-D
Thanks Xstitcher, going on holiday caused my weight gain. As the breakfasts were included in the price, I ate loads. Then I had a very small lunch and evening meal. I thought that was a good idea to do it that way round, but apparently not. I'll go for a walk later, and try to do a walk every day :-)
That's the spirit Marijn. Those hotel breakfasts are irresistable.....take it from a glutton!
You too having problems then Mari junior ;-) Me also.

Many moons ago when I used to have real holidays I used the same formula, large breakfast, small or zero lunch, decent evening meal, and of course loads of beer at the bars. I used to expect to be massive when I got back but usually found I'd either only gone up a little, or even dropped !

Never really knew why; maybe I was dehydrated !
OG I think the answer to that is age . When I was younger I ate loads and never had a problem then the middle age spread started to kick in . Now we have to work to keep it off .
Sure am, OG. Well, I had a little walk today. I hope to make more of an effort tomorrow.
I didn't check in as I truly have not made an effort but would like weight-loss participants to know that my neighbour has cut out bread only and I can see the weight loss in him - yesterday as I was talking to him he was yanking his jeans up over and over again. Think he has lost a stone and a half - and he drinks - this has been over about 2 months so he tells me.
Yes cutting out bread is a good start for you if you can't get organised to make a start . Depending on how much you have to lose you will have to cut down on other things . Start by using lower fat foods and fat free will help . Fish and chicken meals and plenty of veg or salads in this hot weather .my motto is cut out the fat and the crap and if you don't buy it you can't eat it .
I'm on holiday at the moment and haven't weighed this week, but I have just logged in whilst taking a rest in the shade to say hello. Keep cool everyone and keep drinking. Iced water with a twist of lemon for zero calories!
