Onwards and Downwards Continues in August 2015
Hello all,
Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.
The long hot summer holidays are here and I know some of you are entertaining young folk at home. This can make it tricky to keep an eye on your in-take. But here are some tasty kid friendly snacks that are also annoyingly healthy:
For a savory snack try this yummy looking lemon and coriander houmous served with chopped vegetable sticks or bread sticks:

These instant frozen berry treats look easy to make as well:

Even easier are these make your own spring rolls:

and you could swap in other veg and ingredients.
And of course, simply leaving out a plate of chopped up veg and fruit like apples, carrots, cucumber and grapes, can seem to disappear without them even noticing they are eating healthily ;-)
Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

sympathies OG I agree about the water and when it gets boring add a dash of low sugar cordial. When you're shopping buy a few things for these very moments. Like a ounnet of strawberries or an apple, or a few low fat snacks. If you don't have anything you're more likely to eat something inappropriat e! Otherwise its a case of finding a distraction if just a walk...

What is it with Wednesdays these days? They come and go and I barely notice them sometimes, let alone remember to weigh. Like you Wendilla, its time for me to focus again. Sorry not to have been about for a couple of weeks, but I'm pleased to hear you're onward and very nearly upright xstitcher. You 're doing brilliantly, and remain an inspiration for us all.
Keep at it everyone and remember that what suits others might not suit you. Just find a sensible eating plan and be easy on the portions, easy on the fats and carbs and very easy on the sugar.
Personally my trousers are a wee bit tight this morning and that's what usually prompts me to remember that my goal is actually to be a size smaller in the trouser department! So I'll be back with you next week, its a date!

Morning all. I've weighed in today after a few weeks off and am pleasantly suprised to be about the same weight. Pleasantly surprised because I've been tempted by a few treats recently and have struggled all the more with my sweet tooth. But I realise that the difference between me now and a couple of years ago, it that my overall eating patterns are much more sensible and those treats don't have such drastic effects as a generally poor diet.
I chose low fat options, fill up with plenty of vegetables, love salads, avoid too many carbs, use almond milk on sugar free cereal (oatabix or porridge) enjoy berries, avoid cakes, sweets, pastry and desserts, no meat, limited amount of cheese.
Just made my salad lunch to take to work, today its feta and apple with a light dressing and a packet of Snack a Jacks!

Morning all.
Errr.... up 1.6 lbs. It has not been a good week. Looks like being unemployed isn't good for me. Maybe partly the 3 day weekends when I have much reduced control, and being in a period of doing (and avoiding) multiple small jobs instead of being engrossed for hours at a time, allowing me to realise I'm peckish. I need to find coping strategies.
