Onwards and Downwards Continues in August 2015
Hello all,
Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.
The long hot summer holidays are here and I know some of you are entertaining young folk at home. This can make it tricky to keep an eye on your in-take. But here are some tasty kid friendly snacks that are also annoyingly healthy:
For a savory snack try this yummy looking lemon and coriander houmous served with chopped vegetable sticks or bread sticks:

These instant frozen berry treats look easy to make as well:

Even easier are these make your own spring rolls:

and you could swap in other veg and ingredients.
And of course, simply leaving out a plate of chopped up veg and fruit like apples, carrots, cucumber and grapes, can seem to disappear without them even noticing they are eating healthily ;-)
Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

sympathies OG I agree about the water and when it gets boring add a dash of low sugar cordial. When you're shopping buy a few things for these very moments. Like a ounnet of strawberries or an apple, or a few low fat snacks. If you don't have anything you're more likely to eat something inappropriat e! Otherwise its a case of finding a distraction if just a walk...

13st 2.5 lbs this morning on the scales. I should meet the weeks target of 13.2 on my next scheduled weigh-in on Friday. I think it was the too-tight jacket I bough a while back in a size I know used to fit me which prompted the diet.

Good morning All,
Yuk just the same. I have some swelling in my leg and foot and expect that accounts for it, well that's what they told me at rehab so I'll take their word for it.
How's the squash going OG. I started on it too. I must have a look at what's in it. It tastes too good so must be not so good for me. :-))

To be honest I drink enough of it (using it as a no cal but tasty i.e. sweet water) anyway so I've not upped the intake of it any. I need to buy more and was somewhat annoyed I forgot to get some as Sainsbury's last Sunday (may be my imagination but I think theirs taste a little less chemical like that some other brands).
That said back down 0.8 lbs this week, which was unexpected since I'm still on (and likely to remain so) 3 day weekends but maybe the old body simply decided it was having a laugh last Wednesday.
Good luck with reducing the swelling x, I'm sure that must be the cause of the lack of loss. And good luck to all others too for thos week's weigh-in.

I just checked out my Ribena blackberry light and it seems OK.
HOT NEWS: I just took my first walk (with walker) outdoors alone. It was just a 7 min. walk but still unbelievable!
In May all I could move was my head and arms and could do nothing for myself and was looking at a recovery period of one to two years.
