I'm planning to drop university (or take a year out...) But I was wanting to do it around October time as that works better for me.... however my student loan is supposed to go in at end of sept... if I drop will they ask for it back as I won't actually be at uni to use it?

Why don't people just answer the question that clipclop asked rather than preach at her and express their views on what she MAY be doing. She didn't ask to be lectured.

They're usually very understanding with this stuff. The student loan company can rearrange things to give you another year of loan on the end if required

I've had to work through something tragically similar with a young friend.

Work it out with your department then speak to the student loan company office on campus. They'll be able to shift something about for you.

To those of you who decided to get on your high-horses. You can bloody sod off back to the 70's or whatever virtuous land you think you come from.
the 70s? I was there and it was corrupt, expensive, oppressed and chauvenistic. though Dallas was the top show and you could wear black patent leather knee boots and not be thought a prossi
Nice to have your input Ed as you know someone who has been in a similar situation recently and know how the system works. I do, as I said, know of someone close to me who found themselves in that situation and intended going back. Fortunately, is doing very well now workwise and career wise without going back so a degree isn't always the answer to everything.
And it was good fun Dotty!! Was Dallas in the 70's, I thought it was the 80's shoulder pads and big hair and stuff?
well i watched it before i was married and that was in 1978

Not the sort of language one would expect from a member of the Editorial Team
don't go telling Sqad to go back to the 70s.... he'd be having to go back to England and work for a living... I remember "work", and it's not great.
I'm actually bemused by the ed's reference because i can't relate the term virtuous to that particular decade at all! I mean fgs, the sex pistols and donna summer may have been banned from the BBC but that's about it!
The 70's was great for me anyway[i Wigan Casino, Blackpool Mecca and the Catacombs Wolverhampton. No commitments change girlfriends more often than your socks [i]lol]. Great times.
dotty: Abba... Mary Whitehouse (later version)...

Helloooooo everyone!
I honestly didn't know I'd cause such a stir when I posted this question! I, sadly, didn't see Squd's answer but if it has been removed I'm glad as I really don't need someone STILL being presumptuous and ignorant!
I rang the student loan company and they have said (very nicely) that I need to make my decision by the 24th or stay on until Xmas and then drop or keep on.... So big decisions need to be made asap!!
Yep Dotty, you are right - I stand corrected. Started in 1978 through into the 90's. I suppose I relate more to the early seventies as far as good times are concerned. Hated the shoulder pad period of the 80's in most respects.

Why not Sqad?
It's the Ed's site so he can say what he wants but I bet if some of us had said it it would have been reported
What ever decisions you make clipclop. Good luck. I firmly believe degrees are not the be all and end all, although they are essential for some chosen careers! Do what you feel is right for you and don't be pressurised.

Isn't Sqad supposed to be someone who offers a lot of medical advice ??
I'll remember to ignore anything he may say on any more of my questions and would encourage others to do the same!
I offer my thanks to Ed, anyone who offers a sensible reply and sticks up for me is ok in my book!! ;-) x
Can I just say that I didn't report or contact the Ed. I am not responsible for the removal of Sqad's lecture to me.
Some of the answers on this post are "classic" Answerbank replies. They are written in reply to a post that hasn't been read properly in the first place and assumptions are made in a flash, without the thought as to what the OP is struggling with and why a bit of advice is being sought.

A few questions as to clarification of the circumstances that the OP is in would have been the right thing to do, instead of mean and unhelpful posts from Abers who I would have thought, should have known better.

I know you wouldn't have been responsible Lofty, Ed has obviously kept an eye on this thread and thought he was wrong and bang out of order (yet again)!
Unfortunately some replies didnt surprise me these days!

Judgementbank its became of late x

I'm not sure who you mean, clip-clop. I assume you don't mean the Ed was bang out of order again!.

I think we should just accept that a number of posts from several posters have been removed (rightly) and move on rather than go back over who said what
