what are the chances of being able to rent a property with an IVA?. What kind of background check do estate agent do? If there are 2 people wanting to rent a property together 1 with IVA and one without do they have to do a credit check on both people?

I'm not an expert but I would say that they would check both parties as they would both be responsible for the rent.

Hi Veritymoon,
It will very much depend on the letting criteria that the estate agent has in place. It is likely that they will perform a dual search though.

An IVA is not bankruptcy however so you may find that it does not present an issue for you. Have you considered speaking with the estate agent about your concerns?
