Why is it that we tip taxi drivers, hairdress and so on? I work full time and nobody tips me!

these people get paid to do their jobs - sam e as everyone else - they also charge ridiculous prices - yet expect us to give a bit extra just because they want it.
people say they are on low wages and rely on tips to live... not my problem i am afraid - i have paid for my purchase/service - why should i pay more?
it is the reason the bosses get a way with paying crap wages - they save money by expecting their customers to take up their slack.
if i was loaded, i wouldn't mind so much, but i am not, yet i am still huffed at if i decide the service i received was just average and what i have already paid for and so don't tip.!

I agree with this. I live paycheck to paycheck, serving people too! No one ever tips me (not that it is allowed). It is hard to makes end meet and if I want to enjoy supper out with my teenagers -- you can figure at a restaurant, for example O'Charley's, Appleby's, etc - at least $30-40 for 3 people. Or when I get my haircut --- it is at least $20 for a wash/cut/blowdry. Then to add another 15-20% on top of that too.
