I am after any advice!! I have found out my partner of 8 years has been seeing someone else for a year. I am due to have his baby anytime within the next 2 weeks!! I have tried to move out back to my parents but it isnt practical at all so i am staying in the house and he is moving out. I will be on pittence for the next 9 months and then I go back to work. My wage will not even cover the mortgage never mind the bills so he has agreed that he will pay it. I still wont be able to manage. What would I be entitled to benefits wise? Obviously as he would be paying for the house it would make a big difference as it would be classed as income wouldnt it??

Any help greatly received as the online calculators are too vague.

you would be entitled to child allowance
You should be entitled to Statutory Maternity Pay from your employer, otherwise Maternity Allowance from DWP.

If you have a mortgage you can apply for Mortgage Interest Relief by applying for Income Support. You may also be entitled to Income Support depending on your circumstances. If the mortgage is in joint names your partner should make arrangements with you to deal with the mortgage payments.

For Council Tax you should qualify for single person discount and you should be eligible for Council Tax Benefit.

When the child is born you should be entitled to claim maintenance for the child from your partner.

The DWP booklet A Guide for Lone Parents covers the main benefits. You should be able to pick up a copy from your local jobcentre.

If there are any issues over separation it might be best to make an appointment with your local CAB.

Hope the little one arrives safely.
You can also claim Child Tax Credit when the child is born.

The mortgage interest part of Income Support is normally only payable after you have been on Income Support for 9 months, & if you are actually paying the mortgage.
