Your opinions please.

I have been having a friendly banter with my daughter 40yrs (modern mum) who has been a Health Visitor for 15, with my 4yr old grandson.

Last week they came over to my place, and she had painted her nails with a new red shade, and he had blue nails.
I laughed and said, are you trying to make him gay, and she said he asked her because he watched her doing hers.

We got into a discussion, and she said I was old fashioned, (she calls me grumps by the way), and that there was no harm, and children have to experiment, as he would probably do it himself if she wasn't looking.

I didn't agree, and she said, ask you friends on A/B, and see what they say, so I have!

I think I am right, what do you think?

With all due respect ummmm, your upbringing is just one case and doesn't reinforce a theory one way or another.
but its a fairly arbitrary decision to say that young females paint their nails and young males do not....I mean who decided that?
And, as i said, does not wearing makeup or using nail varnish make someone less female hetero?
"Let's hope he didn't spot her inserting a sanitary towel."
lol lol lol
My three year old saw me putting one on my knickers and said "are you putting your nappy on mummy"?
\\\\but its a fairly arbitrary decision to say that young females paint their nails and young males do not....I mean who decided that? \\\

Of course it is arbitrary, generally speaking, females wear lipstick, males tend not to, females paint their toenails, men tend not to.

I have to make it clear, that I base my comments on experience gained over a half a century, but clearly times have changed and so must opinions I presume.

LOl..I can't answer your last sentence as i don't understand it.
"I wasn't being serious when I said about being gay to my daughter, and she knew it, he loves his football, worms, snakes & grubs, and playing soldiers :-)"

well of course he definately CAN'T be gay then. Phew.
bednobs

\\\\My three year old saw me putting one on my knickers and said "are you putting your nappy on mummy"?\\

"putting one ON your knickers?"...I am only a male not really clued up with sanitary towels, but I thought that one put them IN one's knickers.
I know what you mean, jourdain, but nail paint isn't sexualising anyone (and it doesn't turn anyone gay, just as removing it won't turn them straight again). It's more about self-decoration. I never heard of anyone lusting after someone because of their nail paint.

Oh! right.....that's that settled then.
are you agreeing or disagreeing, Sqad? State reasoning and write on one side of the paper only.
yes, you are only a male sqad. I was sticking it on my knicker gusset, then attacking the wings to the outside. I definately was NOT inserting it :)
But it's true. Nail polish doesn't make anyone gay!
if it were my son i would be asking questions. io know many thai ladyboys and i ask them when they started out on their journey and they all say they used mums lipstick or played with girls dolls etc from a very young age.

wouldnt get overly annoyed about it though, hes still your grandson and nothing you can do will ever change him if he does grow up to be gay, so relax.
jno...LOL

bednobs.......still not convinced by your description.

ON you knickers is quite different from IN you knickers, now which one was it IN or ON?

p.s before you get too technical.......i do know what a gusset is..;-)
DD - Ladyboys aren't just gay though, are they?
lol.
Ok, then i applied it to my knickers?? is that a compromise between on and in?
I do not believe this one incident is likely to have any affect on his sexuality. However being homosexual could be due to environment or nature. I suspect an element of both. Genes (or whatever) giving a possibility of becoming so, experiences may trigger that possibility. So in a sense it should be theoretically possible to "make" someone homosexual if they get whatever life experiences trigger that. But an infant's nail painting session ? Clearly not serious.

No "ladyboys" are not just gay. Mentally they are unable to accept the gender they are so mimic the other.

Sqad....enough now!
Sqad its a null hypothesis.
Your hypothesise that use of nail can predispose a male to become homosexual
because nail varnish is part of the appurtenances of femininity.

The null hypothesis is that NOT using nail varnish can predispose a female to homosexuality because NOT using nail varnish is part of the appurtenances of masculinity.
woofy....LOL....I give in.....whatever.
