Hi all, I've taken a look at similar posts dating back to Nov and July last year but still looking for the one! My wife is due in 5 weeks and we are really struggling for boys name, we seem to have a long list of girls names that we both adore but are struggling on the male front! What are your favourites? I know youve had an awful lot of names thrown at you, so will be surprised if you even get around to reading this but nevertheless. My two top favourite names for a boy would be Finn or Matt

You should try being a teacher, it puts you off loads of names.
I used to like Josh/ua, Dan and many more, but we settled on Harvey (which isn't Biblical)

A friend of my sisters has two little boys called Eddie and Reuben, I think they are both ace names. I have 3 girls and have a long list of never to be used boys names, hey ho, lol.

My friend called her baby boy 'Kai' ... and another one I know is 'Kio'

How about Trafford. When I suggested it to my wife she thoufgt it was a great name and went with it. My boy named after the home of football. What could be better

Avoid names that start with the same letter as the surname, or have the same number of letters. Also... don't name the poor lad Lucas. My parents did this 20 years ago and the laughing from all the other kids in class really got to me! It was a very unusual name 20 years ago. As it is, everyone knows me as Luke anyway.

There seems to be a competition at the moment for giving your child the most original (and/or ridiculous) name. A lot of these parents don't think about how this name would sound on a 40 year old man/woman, just that it sounds cute for a kid.

Choose something that you like, but that is also kind on the kid! By the way, my son is called Alex.

My sister always threatened to call her baby Bothwell...........she always read in the birth notices "mother and baby both well".
Needless to say she changed her mind. Typical female!

i love zach. as in zacharie. i think its so cute when their young to be zacharie, but the name zach works well as they get older. I have a friend called zach and he looks and is like you'd expect a zach to be, stylish, attractive and a sweetheart.

Personally, I hate it when people give their children shortened versions of other names: Jack, Charlie, Billy etc. I think it's a bit tacky and much better to give them the traditional name and then call them whichever derivation you/they prefer. I'm probably old fashioned, though.

My son is Bill (William Robert) he's 4 and I love it. Just no K/C or Sh names they are just too 'popular'. If he'd been a girl she would be Kitty. A friend of mine called his lad Griffin. As long as the name you choose has meaning for you both.
