Hey, The father of my 10 month old son, hasnt actually had anything todo with me since I told him I was pregnant (when I was 3 weeks!) When I had Billy I sent the father a msg asking him if he wanted a dna test (he had been telling all his friends the baby asnt his!) could he please hurry up as i wanted his name on the B/C..He just refused, and because I was upset and because I just wanted to registar the birth I done it and left his name off ( i was told he had to be present anyway, and there was no way he would of came with me)
Now ive had to go through csa to finally get him to take a dna test, it obv has cane back pos and am now getting payments sorted out thru csa (dont they take a bloody age!) now I want to know if i have any rights to make him have his name on the BC , i know he dont wannbe involved and tbh seeing the siort of guy he has turned out, im not sure i want him involved, but i do want his name on it for my sons sake, i dont want a blank space!
Is there anything I can do?
many thanks

However, getting the father's name added to the birth certificate would seem to be madness in your circumstances. It would give him 'parental responsibility' which would allow him to interfere your son's upbringing. For example, you wouldn't be able to emigrate (or take a lengthy holiday abroad), with your son, without his father's consent. See here:

im with Buenchico on this why do you want to put his name on the certificate , the guy is obviously an idiot . my mum raised me on her own , my father didnt want to know and the best thing he did for me was he never bothered to get in contact , never offered us any money , never had any rights over me .his loss .
hey guys, thanks. Ive since had a very heated talk with the guy and have decided not to have his name on it, the only reason i wanted his name there was so my son didnt have a blank space there. and people kept telling me it wasnt fair - however im going with a gut feeling that in the long term this may be better for my son. thanks again guys x
